Da Nang promotes cashless payments and electronic invoices

DNO - On the afternoon of October 9, the Danang City Electronic Information Portal coordinated with the State Bank of Vietnam Region 9, Danang City Tax and Vietnam Payment Solutions Joint Stock Company (VNPAY) to organize an online discussion with the topic "Cashless payment and electronic invoices - An inevitable trend in the digital age".

The event took place in the context of digital transformation spreading strongly, affirming Da Nang's pioneering role in building smart cities, towards a digital economy .

In Da Nang , cashless payment models and electronic invoices are being strongly deployed, helping to form a modern, civilized lifestyle. However, to spread widely, more time and support from people and businesses are needed.

Mr. Tran Manh Nam, Director of VNPAY Business Division, said that the unit is coordinating with the City People's Committee, Department of Industry and Trade, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and many wards such as Hai Chau, Ngu Hanh Son to deploy QR and PhonePOS payments, which means turning phones into POS machines for small traders and business households.

VNPAY is also providing free 30,000 electronic invoices and 3 years of digital signature usage for businesses and business households in Da Nang, while integrating QR payments in tourism, hotels, sightseeing tickets... to help international and domestic tourists easily make cashless payments.

According to Mr. Nam, the success of popularizing digital payments comes from the combination of technology - policy - people's habits. When people find it convenient and safe, they will form the habit of cashless payments.

In the coming time, VNPAY plans to expand payment utilities, implement refunds and direct promotions on the application, contributing to building a comprehensive digital payment ecosystem in Da Nang.

Mr. Vo Minh, Deputy Director of State Bank Region 9, said the trend of cashless payments in Da Nang is developing rapidly and sustainably.

Currently, the city has 821 ATMs, 82,000 payment acceptance points, including more than 3,500 POS devices, 4,390 newly opened personal accounts and 226 million electronic transactions, accounting for 87.5% of total payment transactions.

Payment infrastructure is increasingly synchronized, helping to reduce the use of cash in transactions. However, the habit of using cash is still prevalent among the elderly and in rural and mountainous areas.

The State Bank recommends continuing to promote propaganda, training on online transaction safety, staff training, and coordinating with relevant units to synchronize payment infrastructure and ensure information security.

Current difficulties mainly come from lack of equipment and network infrastructure in small businesses; lack of IT skills in the elderly; fear of change and initial investment costs.

According to representatives of the units, to successfully popularize cashless payments, it is necessary to combine modern technology, incentive policies and change people's habits.

Da Nang City Tax is also coordinating with banks and payment intermediary organizations to connect data, ensure transparency, prevent tax fraud, and move towards a transparent and convenient electronic finance system.
