After consulting VAR, the referee decided to give Carvajal a red card, removing him from the game.

It was thought that the numerical disadvantage would prevent Real Madrid from having a smooth start in the Champions League. But the opposite happened, in a 10 vs 11 situation, Real Madrid unexpectedly found the winning goal to win 2-1.
