According to information from the Russian Ministry of Defense , the Russian Armed Forces carried out a precision strike on a warehouse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in the city of Pavlograd, Dnepropetrovsk region. According to the information coordinator of the Nikolaev region, Sergei Lebedev, the warehouse that was attacked could contain ATACMS ballistic missiles provided by the US.

The attack began with two explosions from Russian missiles or glide bombs. This was followed by a series of secondary explosions that locals described as “brilliant fireworks.” The attacks were carried out against the 3024th military unit of the Ukrainian National Guard stationed in the area.

According to multiple local sources, AFU had transported several containers containing ammunition similar in shape to the M39 ATACMS ballistic missile in three KamaZ trucks to the area in the previous days.

The exact cause of the attack is still being determined. There were several casualties reported as ambulances rushed to the scene and even military helicopters were called in.

In late April 2024, the US secretly provided ATACMS tactical missiles to Ukraine under the March 2024 military aid package without making a public announcement. According to media reports, Kiev has received about 100 ATACMS missiles. The decision to transfer ATACMS was approved by US President Joe Biden.

In May 2024, US House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul presented a map of Russia with the area likely to be attacked by ATACMS transferred to Kiev.

He asked Secretary of State Antony Blinken to authorize the AFU to attack Russian territory. According to Michael McCaul, Russian artillery and missile systems were mapped and then used to launch attacks on Ukraine. McCaul stressed that the Ukrainians could not achieve victory under the current restrictions.

Meanwhile, the information coordinator of the Nhikolaev region, Sergei Lebedev, reported a missile attack on the airport in the city of Starokonstantinov in the Khmelnytsky region on the night of May 26. According to him, the Ukrainian authorities there are preparing to receive US F-16 fighter jets.

Another attack was carried out in the direction of Starokonstantinovsky airport, where Western military equipment was apparently located, said Sergei Lebedev. Foreign mercenaries were training Ukrainian soldiers to operate the military equipment there. A “very powerful explosion” occurred in the area of the power substation, causing a blackout in the entire city.

A day earlier, security forces reported the destruction of a warehouse of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkiv. Ukrainian soldiers deployed it on the premises of the Epicenter shopping mall.

“In Kharkiv, AFU used human shield tactics, setting up a military warehouse and a command post in a shopping mall. However, the target was later destroyed,” a field source said.

According to Ukrainska Pravda, on May 26, a UAV of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine set a new record when it attacked the Voronezh M long-range radar station located in the city of Orsk, Orenburg region of the Russian Federation.

“Ukrainian UAVs covered a distance of more than 1,800 km to the enemy target, setting a new record for the destructive range of suicide drones,” the Ukrainian Defense Intelligence Directorate said. The consequences of the attack are being verified.

Russian news sites reported that a UAV “crashed” near Orsk and that the target of the UAV may have been a military facility. Previously, the furthest target attacked by a Ukrainian drone was a facility in the city of Salavat in the Republic of Bashkortostan of the Russian Federation, located approximately 140km from the Ukrainian border with Orsk.

Voronezh M is a Russian strategic long-range fixed over-the-horizon radar station. It is designed to detect space objects and aerodynamic targets, especially ballistic and cruise missiles. The radar operates in the m band and has a target detection range of up to 6,000 km.

Earlier, information appeared that another radar station of the Voronezh DM variant, located in the village of Glubokiy in Russia's Krasnodar Territory, was attacked by a suicide UAV on May 23.
