Compete in production and good business
Every year, the Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province have organized extensive propaganda about the purpose, meaning, content, and importance of the Farmers' movement to compete in production and good business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably; thereby attracting a large number of members and farmers to participate, bringing about many innovations and effectiveness in rural life, economy, and society.
Talking with Mr. Huynh Van Cap (Dong Hoa 2 Hamlet, Dong Thanh Ward), we felt his eagerness to learn, hard work to explore and research production methods that bring high economic efficiency. Determined to increase the value of pomelos - a local product, he went to many places to learn and research to successfully propagate sweet pomelos, expanding the planting area to his 20ha garden. Then he found the technique of using lamps, only harvesting when the fruit reaches 95% ripeness to ensure quality and bring more economic efficiency. The perseverance and dedication of nearly 15 years for sweet pomelos has brought "golden seasons full of sweet fruits" and more than 10,000 seedlings sold/year, helping Mr. Cap's family economy to grow more and more.
For Mr. Cap, the great joy is when sweet pomelos are increasingly "spreading", bringing income to many farmers. With 25 members and a total planting area of 30 hectares, Dong Thanh - Binh Minh Sweet Pomelo Cooperative with products grown according to VietGAP standards, achieving a plant traceability system, is a 4-star OCOP product; gradually moving towards sustainable agricultural solutions.
Running along the road with colorful flowers and solid houses, we stopped by the goat raising model of Mr. Nguyen Tan Lac's family (My Thoi 1 hamlet, Cai Von ward). Deciding to develop the model to take advantage of available raw materials from the family's garden area, from the beginning with 5-10 goats, Mr. Lac's goat herd now has about 30 mother goats and 50 kid goats. "I observed, learned and summarized how to raise and care for goats. From selling commercial meat goats and breeding goats, the profit is about 200 million VND/year" - Mr. Lac said.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy An - Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and President of the Farmers' Association of Cai Von Ward, from 2023 to now, the ward has had over 740 farmer households recognized as achieving the title of good farmers in production and business at all levels; 255 farmer members are exemplary in good production and business, daring to think, daring to do, boldly applying scientific and technical advances in production, forming household economies, production-linked cooperative groups... bringing high economic efficiency.
Over the past 5 years, the whole province has had over 853,200 farmer households recognized as good farmers in production and business at all levels. There are 253 cooperatives linking consumption with enterprises, 102 cooperatives supporting members in applying safe agricultural production processes that meet VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards. In particular, there are 10 billionaire farmer clubs with 520 members; 15 millionaire farmer clubs with 335 members...
Participate in building new rural areas
With creative and effective methods, farmers' associations at all levels in the province have aroused and promoted the role of cadres and farmers' association members directly participating in movements, contributing to making the agricultural and rural picture increasingly prosperous.
Notably, the Farmers' Association of Phu Hung Hamlet (Song Phu Commune) coordinated to plant trees to beautify a 1.7km long road. Each person had a job, everyone enthusiastically participated with a spirit of enthusiasm and responsibility. Mr. Dang Van Nghiep - Deputy Head of the Hamlet, Head of the Farmers' Association of Phu Hung Hamlet said that this is a regular and practical work, contributing to raising the awareness of cadres, members and farmers in creating a green, clean and beautiful environment.
In Phu Long hamlet (Song Phu commune), the hamlet's Farmers' Association has mobilized members to proactively participate in building cultural families, planting and taking care of flower roads, maintaining environmental hygiene, and disposing of garbage in designated places...
From being a role model and taking the lead for the Farmers' Association members to follow, now in front of Mr. Nguyen Van Dung's house - Head of the Farmers' Association of Phu Long hamlet - there is an impressive long hedge of white flowers, which makes everyone passing by admire. Not only does it beautify the house and the family's alley, he also grows white flowers and gives them to hamlets and people to plant to beautify the countryside. "Growing this flower is very easy, it doesn't take much care, it takes a few months to trim it flat and straight. Every time it blooms, it looks so beautiful" - he said excitedly.
Demonstrating their role as the main subject, members and farmers also actively participate in building cultural institutions, rural infrastructure, agricultural mechanization, and applying technical advances to production. Along with that, they donate land, money, and labor to join hands in building a new life. In 5 years, farmers have donated 375,110 square meters of land; contributed more than 45.2 billion VND, nearly 74,750 working days to build and repair 403 rural bridges, over 260 charity houses; repaired and renewed more than 744km of rural roads...
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and Chairman of the Provincial Farmers' Association, in the coming time, all levels of the association will focus on building and consolidating the association organization, taking the association organization and association officials as the center and core; taking the movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, solidarity to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty" as the focus; developing professional farmer association branches and groups as the foundation; collective economy, cooperatives and cooperatives are the key... At the same time, developing and improving the quality of members, improving the production and business level of farmers to meet the increasing demands of the market; promoting the role of farmers as the main subject in agricultural production and building new rural areas.
