(KGO) - Chess player Vu Hoang Gia Bao played excellently, bringing home the first silver medal for the Kien Giang delegation at the 2025 National Youth Chess Championship.

On June 19, coach of the Kien Giang provincial chess team Vo Thanh Ninh said that at the end of the rapid chess competition at the 2025 National Youth Chess Championship, player Vu Hoang Gia Bao won the silver medal in the men's individual. This is also the first medal of the Kien Giang team at the tournament.

The same morning, Kien Giang players continued to compete in the blitz chess event.

The 2025 National Youth Chess Championship took place in Ninh Binh province, organized by the Vietnam Chess Federation in coordination with the Ninh Binh Department of Culture and Sports . The tournament gathered over 1,500 athletes from 56 provinces, cities and sectors nationwide. Kien Giang had 24 athletes participating, including 8 freelance athletes.

Athletes will compete in 10 age groups, from 6 to 20 (male and female), with 4 competition events: Standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess and traditional chess...
