In his opening speech, Deputy Director of the Center for Vocational Education - Hanoi Association for the Blind Nguyen Trung Thai emphasized: The white cane is not only a tool to support orientation, but also a symbol of the will, determination and right to live independently of the blind. In the context of increasingly developing technology, the blind can have a new "companion" - that is, digital applications, smart virtual assistants to help them locate, find their way, use public transport and integrate more deeply into society.
The training course took place over 4 days (October 14, 15, 21 and 22) with many practical contents: instructions on how to use applications when participating in traffic; practicing safe movement skills with a white cane and by hand in familiar areas; experiencing riding the bus, moving in public places; practicing handling situations when participating in traffic. Through practical lessons, students were reinforced with orientation skills, flexible reflexes and how to apply technology to support movement in urban environments.

In particular, in response to International White Cane Day on October 15, delegates, students and staff of the Center participated in a campaign to change their profile pictures on social networks to the image of a white cane, in order to spread the message of sharing, sympathy and honoring the independent spirit of the blind.
Within the framework of the course, the Vocational Education Center - Hanoi Association of the Blind also introduced two new initiatives that will be deployed in the near future: the "Soi But" application on smartphones, supporting the visually impaired to travel by bus more easily; and the handbook "Walk with confidence - A comprehensive guide to traffic safety for the visually impaired". These are expected to be practical tools to help the visually impaired improve their independence and safety when participating in traffic.

The program also gives away gifts with the course's logo to participating students, as a spiritual encouragement, motivating them to overcome difficulties and rise up in life.
According to Vice President of the Hanoi Blind Association Nguyen Huy Viet, with the message "White cane - the cane of faith and aspiration to rise up", the training course "White cane and safe journey with digital assistant" is not only a skill training activity but also a journey to spread humanistic values, adding positive energy to the blind community in the capital.
Through confident, proactive and safe steps, the visually impaired are day by day affirming their ability to integrate, contribute and shine in modern society./.
