The households are mainly from Binh Dinh and have migrated here since 1982. They brought their traditional rice paper making profession to their second homeland to start a business.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhi (born 1982) said that in the past, her family mainly made rice paper by hand. She had to get up at 3am to make rice paper until 5pm. Each day, she could only make 30-40kg of rice flour.

In recent years, her family has invested in machinery and equipment, and each day, her family can make 200kg of rice flour. Each month, they sell about 4 tons of rice paper, and in the months before Tet, the amount nearly doubles. After deducting expenses, her family earns about 15 million VND/month.

The family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy Quyen (born in 1980) said that in the last months of the year, the demand of customers increased, her family produced about 8 tons of rice paper. Every day, her family hired 12 local workers to meet the workload.

In the days before Tet, the rice paper oven of Mr. Bui Quang Trung's family (born 1997) - Secretary of the Youth Union of Village 7, Ea Bar Commune, is busy and hurriedly making rice paper to have enough quantity to deliver to traders.

According to Mr. Trung, during Tet, his family makes about 200-300kg of rice flour every day, starting at 3am. On normal days, they make about 100kg of rice flour per day.

After being coated, the rice paper must be dried in the sun for 2 hours to ensure its quality and appearance. If the weather is erratic, the rice paper will be damaged. Therefore, rice paper makers always monitor the weather closely. In a month, people only coat rice paper for about 20 days.

There are currently 3 types of rice paper produced: large square rice paper, black sesame rice paper and round rice paper. The commune has 16 households making rice paper by machine, producing nearly 1,500 tons of products each year, with prices ranging from 21,000 to 26,000 VND/kg depending on the type of rice paper. Households making rice paper by hand have an average revenue of more than 170 million VND/household/year.

According to Mr. Nguyen Huu Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Ea Bar Commune, the application of machinery in production has helped households increase output and revenue from rice paper making. Rice paper making has contributed to creating jobs for many local workers.

In 2012, the People's Committee of Dak Lak province decided to recognize the rice paper craft village in Ea Bar commune. Currently, rice paper of households in Ea Bar commune is consumed in neighboring markets and some northern provinces.
