- According to information from the Department of Construction of Lang Son , as of 4:00 p.m. on October 8, due to the impact of storm No. 11 (Matmo), on October 6 and 7, there was prolonged heavy rain in the province, causing landslides on many national highways, provincial roads, and district roads, causing traffic jams. In this situation, agencies, units, and functional forces have proactively implemented safety measures to ensure traffic on landslide-affected routes.

Specifically, on National Highway 1B, there was a landslide at one negative slope location with a length of 30 m; the road surface sank and cracked with the risk of breaking at 6 locations with a length of 117 m. On provincial roads and border patrol roads, there were 25 positive slope landslides with a volume of about 3,590 m3 of soil and rock; 4 negative slope landslides with a length of 58 m. On district roads, there were 40 positive slope landslides with a volume of about 7,344 m3; 2 negative slope landslides with a length of 63 m... the total estimated damage was nearly 4 billion VND.
In order to ensure safety and avoid traffic jams, the Provincial Department of Construction directed relevant departments and offices to coordinate with functional forces and road maintenance enterprises to strictly implement the "4 on-site" motto (on-site forces - on-site command - on-site materials and logistics - on-site equipment).
Accordingly, the units performed 22 labor days and 12 continuous machine shifts to ensure the route was open. By the afternoon of October 8, all landslide locations had been cleared, ensuring traffic safety.
In the coming time, the Provincial Department of Construction will continue to direct its affiliated units, coordinate with units that have contracts for road maintenance and repair to carry out well the counting, checking, monitoring, and on-duty work, in order to promptly detect and handle incidents on the roads whenever storms occur, thereby contributing to ensuring traffic safety and smooth traffic.
