Hoang Lien National Park authorities said they had just coordinated with Ta Van Commune Police, Lao Cai Province to successfully search and rescue two foreign tourists who entered the forest illegally and got lost in a special-use forest area managed by the unit.
Previously, at about 6:50 p.m. on October 17, after receiving a report from the public about a tourist getting lost in the forest, the Hoang Lien Forest Protection Department's working group coordinated with the Ta Van Commune Police to conduct a search and rescue plan, zoning off the area to determine the search area in Lot 9, Section 4, Sub-area 278, Sin Chai Village, Ta Van Commune.
Authorities discovered that Ms. M. Carina and Mr. H. Florian (Austrian nationality) were visiting the special-use forest area without a permit from the forest owner. The tourists could not present legal documents related to tourism activities in the forest.
While traveling through the forest, the tourist was slightly injured and unable to leave the area on his own.

The search team of 10 people, including Hoang Lien National Park rangers, Ta Van Commune Police, security forces and forest protection team members, tried to approach the tourists.
By 11 p.m. the same day, the working group had reached the tourist, performed first aid and brought him out of the forest safely.
Relevant units have drawn up records, disseminated information, and reminded tourists about violations of legal regulations in tourism activities and special-use forest protection, and handled the case according to current regulations./.
