The Vietnam U23 team, as the defending champion, will enter the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship with the opening match against Laos U23 on the afternoon of August 20, within the framework of Group C. Although participating in the tournament with the core of 20-year-old players, Coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team are still highly appreciated. Before participating in the tournament, the team played a friendly match in a closed format with Bahrain U23. Although they lost to their opponents in the penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes of official play, the coaching staff was quite satisfied with the spirit and expertise of the players.

The 2023 Southeast Asian U23 Championship is an opportunity for young players to show their ability to make their name in the Vietnam Olympic team to participate in the 19th Asian Games . Furthermore, young talents need to show more to aim for the goal of being on the national team call-up list.
