In 1963, along with the revolutionary movement of the Southern people, the patriotic movement of monks, nuns and Buddhists exploded into a large Buddhist movement. At this time, Mr. Maha Son Thong was the one who proposed the establishment of the Khmer Buddhist Sangha Association with the Southwest Region Party Committee to gather, unite and mobilize Khmer monks and Buddhists to support and participate in the movement to fight for national liberation and unify the country, and was approved by the Standing Committee of the Southwest Region Party Committee. Since 1964, the Khmer Buddhist Sangha Association of the Southwest region was established; following that, the Khmer Buddhist Sangha Associations at all levels in the provinces in the Southwest region were also established one after another. In particular, the Khmer Buddhist Sangha Association of Tra Vinh province was established on March 20, 1965.
Venerable Thach Oai, Permanent Vice President of the Provincial Association of Buddhist Monks and Nuns, reviewed the 60th anniversary of the establishment of the Provincial Association of Buddhist Monks and Nuns.
Since the re-establishment of Tra Vinh province in 1992, with the attention, leadership and facilitation of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee and Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Association of Khmer Buddhists in Tra Vinh province has gone through 8 Congresses. Promoting the tradition of patriotism and national unity, the Association has gathered Khmer monks and Buddhists to participate in building an increasingly developed and stable Association; preserving and promoting cultural identity; educating and training intellectuals; propagating and guiding Khmer monks and Buddhists to study and practice religion in accordance with national traditions and the laws of the State.
In recent times, the Buddhist Sangha at all levels in the province has continued the tradition of ardent patriotism, actively mobilized and encouraged the spirit of compatriots and monks, actively built the great national unity bloc; taken good care of Buddhist affairs in accordance with the motto "Buddhism - Nation - Socialism"; promoted the role of each member to make important contributions to the overall development achievements of the province in recent times...
Through 60 years of establishment and development, it can be seen that the Vietnam Women's Union has contributed significantly to the development of social organization and management, comprehensive development of new people, and development of society; contributing to promoting the country's innovation.
Venerable Thach Sok Xane, Chairman of the Provincial Buddhist Sangha Association, spoke at the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, Venerable Thach Sok Xane, Chairman of the Provincial Association of Buddhist Monks and Nuns, said: The establishment of the Association of Buddhist Monks and Nuns at all levels has actively contributed to propagating the Party's guidelines, policies and guidelines, attracting many intellectuals and compatriots, Khmer monks and nuns to voluntarily participate in the revolutionary movement against foreign invaders and reactionary forces, together with the ethnic people in the province to establish glorious feats.

In recent years, the Tra Vinh Provincial Association of Buddhist Monks has actively mobilized and encouraged the people and monks in socio-economic development; fully exercised the rights and obligations of citizens, strictly complied with the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's laws, actively participated in the activities of the government, organizations and social activities in the locality; strengthened national security and defense, vigilance against all plots and peaceful evolution of hostile forces; built the great national unity bloc; built and promoted the nation's fine traditional cultural values; gradually eliminated backward customs and superstitions; promoted the teaching and learning of Khmer script.
In addition, the Association also carries out social charity work well, mobilizing people to contribute to building houses of gratitude, charity houses, solidarity houses, contributing to the education promotion fund, donating land to build social welfare works, actively mobilizing Khmer people to participate in the movement: "All people unite to build new rural areas, civilized urban areas".
