Consumption linkage - the key to increasing the value of agricultural products in Hiep Thanh

Hiep Thanh Commune (Lam Dong) identified linking agricultural product consumption as the key to increasing the value of local agricultural production. This is not only a direction to solve the output of agricultural products but also creates a driving force to promote the transformation and sustainable development of the rural economy.

In 2012, Mr. Le Tien Hoai Tam, in Hiep Thanh commune, started his business with 2 dairy cows. In the early days, he raised and learned techniques from veterinary staff. After a while, he boldly invested in solid barns, proactively provided food sources, applied new techniques, and gradually increased the herd and expanded the scale. Up to now, his family's herd has 50 cows, producing an average of 17 liters of milk/day/cow, with a 3-4 month exploitation cycle. Thanks to signing a contract with the enterprise, each year, his family earns about 500 million VND in profit.

According to Mr. Tam, the most decisive factor for farmers to feel secure in investing is the consumption link. “Only with a stable output can I dare to expand the scale, improve techniques, and improve product quality. If we only produce spontaneously and are not linked to the market, it will be difficult to achieve long-term effectiveness,” Mr. Tam shared.

Not only Mr. Tam's household, the entire Hiep Thanh commune currently has about 2,640 households participating in cooperation with businesses in the fields of vegetable and dairy production... The formation of agricultural value chains helps farmers stabilize production, minimizing the risk of "good harvest, low price".

Mr. K'Lam - Chairman of the Commune Farmers' Association said that the Farmers' Association has been mobilizing members to change crop structure, apply new techniques, and strongly participate in linkage chains. Only when linking production with businesses can people increase product value and income.

Production practice shows that agricultural development associated with sustainable consumption is an inevitable direction. This is also the key solution for Hiep Thanh to realize the Resolution of the Commune Party Congress for the term 2025 - 2030 with the goal of increasing the value of agricultural production to 430 - 480 million VND/ha, at the same time, bringing many key products to participate in the OCOP and VietGAP programs, associated with the brand "Da Lat - a miraculous crystallization from the good land".

Mr. Nguyen Van Dung - Vice Chairman of Hiep Thanh Commune People's Committee said that the commune is implementing 3 key points in economic development, including: building concentrated production areas, attracting processing and consumption enterprises; encouraging farmers to produce cleanly; providing technical support and focusing on training farmers to access safe, organic, and environmentally friendly production models. This is the key for Hiep Thanh agricultural products to participate deeply in the value chain, meeting the increasingly strict requirements of domestic and foreign markets.

In addition, the commune focuses on attracting businesses to invest in deep processing, building brands and geographical indications for agricultural products, perfecting production infrastructure, and improving the quality of human resources, which are also considered prerequisites for sustainable development.

Hiep Thanh commune aims to achieve the advanced new rural standards by 2027 and the model new rural standards by 2028. The initial results from the consumption linkage model are creating a solid foundation for Hiep Thanh to successfully achieve this goal.
