After a difficult opening week filled with fitness concerns and tense matches, Novak Djokovic easily defeated German Jan-Lennard Struff 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 in just 1 hour and 49 minutes. The victory helped Djokovic advance to the quarterfinals at Flushing Meadows for the 14th time in his career.
"I don't know how many more matches I'm going to have, so obviously every match is special and I want to thank everyone for being here tonight," Djokovic said after another evening of competition at Arthur Ashe Stadium (local time).

However, things did not go smoothly for the 38-year-old. Djokovic once again had to seek the care of ATP physiotherapist Clay Sniteman. After the first set, Sniteman performed therapeutic movements on the area between Djokovic's right shoulder and neck. After the second set, he continued to massage the four-time US Open champion's right forearm.
However, none of these issues could hinder the 100-time title winner's play. Struff came into the match in good form after back-to-back wins over Holger Rune and Frances Tiafoe, but he was unable to replicate that dominant attacking style against Djokovic.
Djokovic has now won 30 of his service games this season, breaking six times and playing well across the board, putting enough pressure on Struff to force errors and using his serve to avoid trouble in his own service games.
"Serving well definitely helps. I think I had a great serve in the last round and tonight as well. I just looked at the stats, I served better than one of the players who had the most aces in the tournament this year, so that's a great stat. Obviously it makes it easier for me on the court. Maybe I don't have to train as hard or work more than I need to," Djokovic said.

Djokovic leads 10-0 heading into his quarterfinal against fourth seed Taylor Fritz. The American also won in the minimum set in the fourth round, defeating 21st seed Tomas Machac in just 1 hour 38 minutes.
The two ATP Top 10 stars have not met since last year's Rolex Shanghai Masters. Djokovic has won 23 of the 26 sets they have played.
