Like phase 1, phase 2 of SEA V.League 2025 (Southeast Asian Women's Volleyball Championship) did not witness any surprises after the first two days of competition.
Easily defeating the Philippines women's team 3-0 in the opening match, the Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued to repeat the same result in the competition with the Indonesian women's team on the afternoon of August 9.
Although coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet did not field his strongest team at times, the Vietnamese women's team still showed superiority and won overwhelmingly after 1 hour and 13 minutes of competition.
Thanks to impressive results, Bich Tuyen and her teammates helped the Vietnamese women's volleyball team make history, rising to 23rd place for the first time in the world rankings of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB).
According to the latest update, the Vietnamese women's team has a total score of 152.37, only 8 points behind the Thai women's team (ranked 21st). Before the SEA V.League 2025 started, the Vietnamese women's team ranked 26th in the world.
The opportunity to advance and create a new historical milestone will come to Coach Tuan Kiet and his team at 7:00 p.m. on August 10, when the Vietnamese women's team continues to face the Thai women's team in a match that is meaningful for the championship. In the first leg taking place in the Land of the Golden Pagoda, both teams created a very dramatic "final" match.
Despite having to play away and being underestimated, Lam Oanh and her teammates still started strongly, continuously pushing the home team into a chasing position.
But the Thais' bravery still helped them successfully turn the game around. After tying the score at 2-2, Coach Kiattipong Radchatagriengkai's players won 15-11 in the deciding set 5.
In this rematch, the Vietnamese women's team will have the advantage of playing at home, under the cheers of red-filled stands at Ninh Binh Provincial Stadium.
Will coach Tuan Kiet and his team successfully take revenge and help the Vietnamese women's volleyball team defeat Thailand for the first time in history to become the regional champion?
The volleyball "final" match of the second round of SEA V.League 2025 between the Vietnamese women's team and the Thai women's team is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. on August 10.
If unable to go to the stadium, fans can watch and cheer through live TV channels or the online platform of Vietnam Cable Television (VTVcab).
