Frank de Boer is rumored to be the new coach of Indonesia. |
A photo of Simon Tahamata, head of talent scouting for the Indonesian national team, with coach Frank de Boer has caused a stir on social media, sparking rumors that the former Dutch national team coach could become the new head coach of Indonesian football.
The photo was taken when Tahamata and De Boer attended the 100th anniversary celebration of Georgian club Dinamo Tbilisi last weekend. The event was attended by the legendary Ajax squad, with whom both played in the past.
Although it is just a coincidence, the couple's personal relationship has made many Indonesian fans speculate about the possibility of De Boer being targeted for the head coach position.
De Boer’s background adds to the speculation. He previously coached Inter Milan under Erick Thohir, who is now the president of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI). This close relationship is seen as a factor that could pave the way for a potential reunion in Indonesia.

De Boer was close to Thohir. |
Currently, the head coach position of the Indonesian national team is still vacant after Patrick Kluivert was fired by PSSI in mid-October. The decision was made after "Tim Garuda" failed to qualify for the 2026 World Cup, ending the ambition of Indonesian football under Kluivert's reign.
After firing Kluivert, President Thohir emphasized that Indonesian football “will continue the strategy of using brains from the Netherlands” with a team of naturalized players and high-class coaches from the land of tulips.
