'Brand new' international work at Da Nang Asian Film Festival

Actor Ji Seung Hyun and the movie My Friend is a Murderer will be premiered at the Da Nang Asian Film Festival.

With the theme: Asian Bridge , the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III) will take place from June 29 to July 5 with many unique exchange activities of Vietnamese and regional cinema.

This year's film festival is renewed with many notable highlights, including the Asian Cinema Panorama program . The program not only brings together excellent films that have won awards at prestigious film festivals but also introduces 7 works that are premiering internationally for the first time. This is a welcome signal showing the trust that filmmakers have in DANAFF and at the same time showing the effort to expand the space for dialogue and deeper connection within the Asian cinema community.

This year, many filmmakers confidently chose the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival as the stage to debut their works. Among the works that were premiered to the public or internationally, the name My Friend is a Murderer by Korean director Kim Hee Sung received a lot of attention, especially when the film's actor Ji Seung Hyun also confirmed that he will come to Da Nang to attend this festival.

Many works of Japanese, Korean, Indian, Hong Kong cinema... also gathered at the Asian Cinema Panorama program within the framework of DANAFF III.

Besides My Friend is a Murderer , the Indian film Love in Vietnam ; Extreme Family from Korea; Japanese works: Lotus Kitchen; Mommy, Niihama Hikari Story: The Blue Lion, Souzoku also had their international premiere or world premiere at DANAFF III.

In addition, many works from regional cinemas: China, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Taiwan... also appear in the Asian Cinema Panorama program within the framework of the upcoming film festival.

In response to the question: "How can producers trust and choose the Da Nang Asian Film Festival as the place to premiere their work?", Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan - representative of the organizing committee, shared with Thanh Nien : "'The fragrance of flowers comes naturally' is true in this case. It seems that most filmmakers who have come to DANAFF hope to return with their new work one day."

The female doctor added: "This year, the number of Asian films sent to us for selection is much larger, so DANAFF has a wider selection. In particular, the Asian Film Competition and Panorama of Asian Cinema has up to 11 Asian films premiering for the first time, of which 7 are world premieres (meaning brand new, never shown anywhere) and 4 are international premieres. This is a proud number, proving the prestige of the film festival and showing that filmmakers have chosen DANAFF as the first cradle to entrust their 'newborn children'!".
