Losing his job at Hanoi FC, Coach Bandovic returns to Thailand

This afternoon, October 11, PT Prachuap announced the contract with coach Bozidar Bandovic. The Thai team announced: " The club appointed the 54-year-old coach from Montenegro as the new captain to lead the players in all matches in the 2023/2024 season ."

Previously, on October 6, Coach Bandovic and Hanoi FC decided to terminate the contract early. This coach did not meet the requirements of the capital team.

" I feel honored to return to work in Thailand. I am very familiar with football here and know many players. I want to explore and develop the potential of the players. I told the team president about the goals to aim for. From the beginning, I want the players to focus on each match, correct each mistake and I myself must also overcome them, " Mr. Bandovic shared at the launching ceremony.

Mr. Bandovic has a lot of experience working in Thailand. He used to lead Tero Sasana or Sisaket, but Buriram United is the team where Mr. Bandovic made the most impression.

The 54-year-old coach helped Buriram United win the Thai League three consecutive seasons, from 2017 to 2019. He also led them through the group stage of the 2018 AFC Champions League.

Mr. Bandovic will lead Hanoi FC in the 2023 season. The team hopes that the Montenegrin coach will fulfill his ambition to dominate the domestic league and move towards the international arena.

However, Mr. Bandovic could not help Hanoi FC successfully defend the V-League championship. In the AFC Champions League 2023/2024, Hanoi FC invested in many quality foreign players, but they lost heavily in the two opening matches against Pohang Steelers and Urawa Red Diamonds.

After the match in Japan, Hanoi FC decided to terminate the contract with coach Bandovic. The capital team appointed assistant Le Duc Tuan as the team's interim coach.
