The workshop aims to introduce outstanding research cooperation achievements between the University of Sydney and its partners in Vietnam, and at the same time create a forum to connect, exchange ideas, promote cooperation and expand multidisciplinary research networks in many key areas such as health, agriculture , environment, technology, culture and public policy.
Mr. Dao Ngoc Chien said that in more than 15 years of establishment and development, NAFOSTED has become an effective tool of the State to encourage basic and applied research, while improving the national science and technology capacity. The Fund's funding programs aim at international standards, are open, transparent and competitive, creating conditions for domestic and foreign scientists to access.

According to Mr. Dao Ngoc Chien, up to now, NAFOSTED has sponsored thousands of research topics, contributing significantly to the publication of many scientific works in prestigious international journals, training a generation of young scientists, and promoting applied research results that bring practical value in many fields such as medicine , agriculture, information technology and environment. Through international cooperation programs, the Fund has connected strong domestic research groups with prestigious partners in Europe, Asia and Australia, thereby contributing to enhancing the position of Vietnamese science in the international arena.
Regarding the upcoming orientation, NAFOSTED aims to build a high-quality research ecosystem, linked to the requirements of socio-economic development; strive to bring Vietnam into the Top 3 ASEAN in international publications, Top 4 in H-index, while maintaining an average growth rate of 15% in the number of patents each year. The Fund will prioritize investment in strategic technologies, continue to expand international cooperation, including with the University of Sydney and research organizations in Australia. "NAFOSTED is committed to accompanying the scientific community, businesses and international organizations to build an open, creative and integrated research ecosystem," Mr. Dao Ngoc Chien affirmed.

In addition to the speech by the NAFOSTED representative, the Workshop also recorded many reports and lively discussions revolving around multidisciplinary research cooperation topics, from regional vaccine development, application of immersive technology in flood prevention planning, to ensuring food security and improving public health. The afternoon thematic discussions helped scientists, businesses and policy makers to further discuss the connection mechanism, resource mobilization and social impact dissemination of research results.
The workshop concluded with a networking session, opening up many new prospects for cooperation. The event is expected to become a strong bridge for the academic and business communities of the two countries, working together to solve regional and global challenges, towards sustainable development and common prosperity.
