Mr. Phan Dinh Khiem - Vice Chairman in charge of the Provincial Cooperative Union said that in the past year, the province's economic situation and cooperatives have developed in both quantity and quality; more and more cooperatives have been established, with many different industries and fields. The quality of operations has been increasingly innovated, production, business and service activities have been gradually better organized, more dynamic in the market mechanism, and operational efficiency has been higher year after year. Thereby, many jobs have been created, contributing positively to the implementation of the goal of hunger eradication and poverty reduction, building new rural areas, promoting the transformation of economic and labor structures and making many positive contributions to the socio-economic development of the locality.
It can be seen that many cooperatives have innovated in management and operation, redefining the direction of production and business to be more suitable and dynamic. Agricultural cooperatives have gradually overcome difficulties, changed production methods, focused on agricultural production according to safety standards, and applied scientific and technical advances in farming. Product promotion activities, market access and digital transformation have received more attention from cooperatives. Some cooperatives have proactively participated in production and consumption chains through linking with businesses and farming households, creating links between chain participants to create added value. The People's Credit Funds (PCFs) have performed their assigned tasks well, ensuring that the PCF system in the area continues to develop stably, safely and effectively. PCFs have paid attention to controlling bad debts well, the bad debt ratio is low (0.77%) and has decreased (0.1%) compared to the end of 2022. PCF members have had favorable access to credit capital to expand production and business activities, contributing to limiting usury and effectively implementing, creating more income, improving life and the goal of hunger eradication, poverty reduction and rural areas.
Promote collective economy
Mr. Khiem added that to achieve these results, it is necessary to emphasize the role of the Standing Committee of the Department of Planning and Investment and the Provincial Cooperative Union in advising and proposing the Provincial People's Committee to issue documents to implement policies and guidelines to support and promote the development of cooperative economy in the province. In addition, the coordination between the Steering Committee and all levels, sectors and localities has been closer, focusing on promoting and mobilizing the establishment of cooperatives, training and fostering cooperative human resources as well as supporting cooperatives in participating in trade promotion activities; consulting and supporting cooperatives in accessing capital sources, supporting cooperatives in participating in product value chains and developing high technology...
In 2023, the Cooperative Alliance coordinated to organize 20 training courses on the Law on Cooperatives and the Party and State's policies on cooperative economic development for 1,000 trainees who are union members, youth, senior members, former youth volunteers and ethnic minorities who want to start a business with the cooperative model. In addition, it also organized 7 management training courses for 485 managers, members and workers in cooperatives; coordinated with information agencies and the press to introduce good models and new ways of doing things on mass media so that founders and people can see the benefits of participating in cooperatives.
In particular, it has organized two rounds of participation in the 2023 trade promotion fair organized by the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance in Dong Nai and Hanoi . In addition, the Provincial Cooperative Alliance has proactively coordinated with departments and branches to organize for cooperatives to participate in trade promotion programs, connecting supply and demand, introducing products and goods in provinces and cities across the country... Effectively deploying the operation of product display stores of cooperatives, gradually bringing cooperative products to consumers inside and outside the province.
In 2024, in order to maintain and further promote the dynamism of cooperatives, the Steering Committee for Innovation and Development of Collective Economy and Cooperatives of the province will continue to focus on promoting propaganda work to raise awareness among cadres, party members, people of all walks of life and the entire political system to clearly understand the Law on Cooperatives, the nature of the new-style cooperative model, the differences between old-style and new-style cooperatives; the benefits of participating in cooperatives in agricultural, rural and farmer development to strengthen the trust of members and the community in the new-style cooperative model.
In addition, it will encourage the sustainable development of collective economy, with cooperatives as the core, with many forms of association and cooperation. Replicate effective cooperative economic models, create conditions for household economy to develop in the fields of agriculture, industry, trade, and services, contributing to the formation of value chains from production to processing and consumption. Up to now, the whole province has 219 cooperatives, an increase of 5.3% compared to the same period in 2022, with a total of nearly 50,000 cooperative members. Of which, 197 cooperatives are operating (up to 146 cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector), 22 cooperatives have stopped or temporarily stopped operating. During the year, 15 new cooperatives were established and 5 cooperatives were dissolved.
