Leading us to visit the banana and plantain growing area with a total area of ​​over 50 hectares of Hoang Cuong Safe Banana Cooperative, Mr. Nguyen Duc Luong - Director of the Cooperative said: Hoang Cuong Commune has a large area of ​​land, suitable for growing bananas, so decades ago, many households invested in developing red banana and plantain trees using tissue culture. Currently, the consumption of commercial bananas is quite favorable, in addition to exporting to the Chinese market, the domestic market also quite favors Hoang Cuong banana products. The Cooperative is completing documents for Hoang Cuong banana products to be recognized as OCOP products, both increasing the value of the products and creating motivation for members to feel secure in production.

Hoang Cuong Safe Banana Cooperative supplies the market with nearly 50 tons/year, bringing in a profit of nearly 4 billion VND/year.

Ms. Hoang Thi Loan, a member with the largest banana acreage of the cooperative, shared: In recent years, bananas have been one of the foods that consumers have quite favored, so my family has a stable source of income. On average, I harvest and sell about 500kg of bananas to the market every day. After deducting expenses, the average profit is about 80-90 million VND/ha/year.

As a mountainous commune, people's income in Hoang Cuong mainly depends on agriculture, so helping households reduce poverty and escape poverty sustainably is always a concern of local authorities. Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period, especially after operating the 2-level local government model, the locality has determined to promote the collective economy , so that households have capital and experience to support households in difficulty, and at the same time, building linkage chains to consume products is one of the solutions suitable to the practical situation of the locality. Therefore, Hoang Cuong has encouraged existing cooperatives to expand their scale, accept more members; and establish new cooperatives to help people escape poverty sustainably.

Hoang Cuong Safe Vegetable Cooperative is such a model. Currently, the Cooperative has 14 members, with a total production area of ​​about 2 hectares. Ms. Vu Thi Hong - Director of the Cooperative said: Previously, some members of the Cooperative were long-term poor. Since receiving loans under the poverty reduction program, learning experiences in growing safe vegetables, and having their products guaranteed, the households have had a stable source of income, much higher than growing corn and rice before, gradually escaping poverty.

After the 1st Hoang Cuong Commune Party Congress, term 2025-2030, the Commune Party Committee has built and organized the implementation of 4 thematic resolutions; developing 3-star OCOP products of sour cassava; perfecting agricultural service cooperatives; developing agricultural production towards commodities and high technology on the land area after consolidation, contributing to increasing income.

One of the two breakthroughs chosen by the Hoang Cuong Party Committee is to develop concentrated agricultural production areas associated with key products. The commune prioritizes the formation of high-quality specialized production areas, especially tea, fruit trees and intensive aquaculture. Safe and environmentally friendly production models are encouraged, along with perfecting the production - processing - consumption chain. At the same time, cooperatives are encouraged to expand and develop production, register to participate in the OCOP program to increase the value of agricultural products, help the collective economy develop stably and sustainably, which is truly the key for people to escape poverty.
