National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan"

Việt NamViệt Nam20/11/2023

The pristine beaches, charming natural landscapes and simple, friendly people of the pearl island have made many tourists fall in love with the pure beauty of this place. Perhaps that is why the "rough gem" Phu Quy has received the highest number of searches on the Agoda travel platform this year, up 180% compared to the same period last year.

Bustling pearl island

According to local statistics, since the beginning of this year, Phu Quy has welcomed more than 150,000 tourists (an increase of more than 61,000 visitors compared to the same period last year), including more than 2,200 foreign visitors. This surge in attraction is due to the fact that the two expressways Dau Giay - Phan Thiet and Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao officially opened in early May 2023. Connecting traffic infrastructure, combined with its inherent hidden beauty, Phu Quy suddenly easily conquers those who love to travel. Not only is onshore traffic convenient, but the Phan Thiet - Phu Quy transport route also quickly attracts new investors. Up to now, there have been 6 high-speed boats operating stably and safely, with daily trips from Phu Quy - Phan Thiet and vice versa. Not only is it timely to transport passengers from the mainland to the island district, but it also makes it convenient for tourists to choose a suitable departure time with a time of only about 2 hours. Meanwhile, the road transport capacity on remote islands currently has more than 220 cars of all kinds, ensuring the transportation of goods and meeting the travel needs of people and tourists in the district.

Despite many difficulties, with the strong recovery of the "smokeless industry" in the province in general and the pearl island in particular, a series of motels, resorts, and homestays on the island have been established and developed strongly with attention to clean rooms and affordable prices, making most tourists give good reviews after using the service. Currently, the whole district has 150 accommodation establishments, with 650 rooms, most of which are homestays. Tourism services such as motorbike rental, dining, Sup paddle boarding, diving, etc. have also developed strongly, meeting the entertainment needs of visitors. In particular, the friendliness and hospitality of the islanders is a plus point, quite impressive, and any tourist returning to the mainland will praise it.

Many well-invested homestays and resorts have sprung up.

Towards “Green Tourism”

In addition, the district also organized vibrant tourism activities to respond to the National Tourism Year " Binh Thuan - Green Convergence". Although it is an island district, far from the mainland, the promotion and propaganda of destinations has received attention from the locality. The district has installed 4 large billboards to promote the National Tourism Year 2023 at 4 locations such as: the intersection to Phu Quy Port, in front of the District Military Medical Center, in front of Long Hai Primary School and the Vo Van Kiet dual carriageway. In addition, 30 flags were erected on the Vo Van Kiet dual carriageway, making this route more colorful. Not only that, Phu Quy tourism information was advertised on many social networking platforms, attracting many interested tourists. The district also organized 6 mass art performances to promote the National Tourism Year 2023 event. Notably, this is the first year Phu Quy organized the Half Marathon around the island. This event attracted nearly 500 athletes from inside and outside the district to participate. Phu Quy also organized a fair to display local tourism products, attracting many interested units and businesses. Thereby, promoting the image, place and people of Phu Quy to all regions of the country.

It is known that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan is choosing Phu Quy to build and develop the product "Green Tourism", associated with propaganda to join hands in protecting the marine and island environment. New generation tourists are those who love the environment, respect and are responsible for the environment, especially the marine and island tourism environment. Therefore, the trend of tourism to find unique cultural values and pristine ecology is becoming popular. Therefore, it requires local authorities and businesses to keep up with that trend in developing green tourism.

Mr. Ngo Tan Luc, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Phu Quy island district, said that although the development of "Green Tourism" products in Phu Quy is still in its early stages, there have been positive signs, with many meaningful ideas, actions and jobs appearing. Recently, many youth volunteer teams and tourists have regularly organized tree planting, collected waste in the community and ocean waste... At the same time, the local government has also mobilized and guided people to implement measures to limit the use of disposable plastic products and not use hard-to-decompose nylon bags; organic waste has been instructed to be composted as fertilizer for vegetable gardens on the island...

When “Green tourism” becomes a typical product of Phu Quy, the “smokeless industry” here will certainly expand further, creating a special impression and promising to give tourists the most wonderful experiences. In the coming time, Phu Quy will continue to call for investment and take advantage of many capital sources to speed up the implementation of key projects in the locality. At the same time, the district will strengthen the promotion and introduction of the potential, image, and destinations of Phu Quy and focus on diversifying activities related to marine and island ecotourism.
