Traditional products are upgraded when they become OCOP products.

Keeping the traditional spirit...

Ms. Thuy shared: Customers come to the store not only to buy goods, but also to find the taste of their hometown. Each product carries a story from the hands of the maker, from the land that nurtured it...

In fact, in recent times, localities throughout the province have focused on effectively implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) movement. Mr. Bui Phi Nam, Director of Yen Tri Agricultural Cooperative, affirmed: the One Commune One Product program is not only an economic development model but also a journey to awaken the indigenous quintessence.

Yen Tri is famous for growing and processing traditional medicine, but in the past, its economic value was limited. Since participating in the OCOP program, the cooperative has boldly invested in technology, built modern processing lines, creating products such as black xạ cao, cà gai leo cao, gắm cao... which are both convenient and ensure the quality of medicinal herbs.

From this direction, many products of Yen Tri Agricultural Cooperative have been recognized as meeting OCOP standards of 3 stars or higher, opening up a larger market and creating more stable jobs for local people. Mr. Nam proudly said: “From traditional medicinal plants, we have created modern health care products, bringing many times more value, but still preserving the soul of the old profession”.

Ms. Trinh Thi Thuy packs OCOP products, which are local products, into shopping baskets, which are both delicate and polite gifts.

Similar to Yen Tri, in Van Phu ward, Hung Lo rice noodle village has existed for hundreds of years and has become the pride of the homeland. Today, thanks to participating in the OCOP program, this brand is not only affirmed domestically but also reaches out to the international market.

Mr. Pham Van Chanh, owner of Phan Doan rice noodle production facility, who has been in the profession for more than 30 years, said: On average, my facility sells 15 to 17 tons of rice noodles per month. From manual production, we now have a drying system, automatic packaging, and clear traceability stamps.

Hung Lo rice noodles are not just a commodity but also the quintessence of the homeland preserved through many generations. Thanks to this innovation, Hung Lo rice noodles are continuously recognized as a 4-star OCOP product, contributing to making the local brand a symbol of integration between tradition and modernity.

From agricultural products to integrated goods

According to Mr. Bui Huy Nhuan, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Phu Tho province, after more than 4 years of implementing the OCOP Program for the period 2021 - 2025, the movement has spread widely, becoming a driving force to promote sustainable rural economic development.

The province currently has 609 OCOP products with 3 stars or more, including 503 3-star products, 100 4-star products and 6 5-star products. To promote this movement, the province has also supported the promotion of 28 OCOP product introduction and sales points.

Trade promotion activities are promoted on many platforms such as voso.vn, Postmart.vn, nongsan.phutho.gov.vn, along with bringing OCOP products to participate in dozens of fairs and major events across the country.

In particular, digital transformation in agriculture is considered an important breakthrough. OCOP products are attached with QR codes to trace their origin and update information on e-commerce platforms, making it easy for consumers to look up and shop. The Department also coordinates to organize 10-12 training courses each year, equipping hundreds of OCOP subjects from enterprises to cooperatives and production households with management knowledge, marketing and digital skills.
