According to ComicBook , Netflix has big plans to expand its video game options. Specifically, there will be 40 exciting new games released throughout the rest of 2023.
In an interview about Netflix's first-quarter earnings, Netflix Co-CEO Greg Peters talked about the company's future growth plans. According to Peters, the platform currently has 55 games available to subscribers, but that number will soon increase thanks to games developed by in-house studios, as well as other games released through partners.
Netflix Games is adding 40 new games to its service
When asked about current user engagement with the game, Peters seemed to avoid mentioning these issues. Last year, Netflix’s gaming service saw a bleak picture, with less than 1% of subscribers accessing the game daily as of August 2022.
It’s hard to pinpoint exactly why Netflix gaming has been so under-engaged, but it’s largely due to the platform’s mobile-only nature, which has kept Netflix’s PC and TV-only users out of the entertainment scene.
In addition to the new games coming out this year, Netflix is also making efforts to improve the gaming experience for users. Specifically, a recent rumor suggests that Netflix games will soon be playable on PC and TV using mobile devices as a controller.
