On August 30, Mr. Nguyen Tien Luong - captain of the Phu Quoc Express 8 high-speed boat - informed that this year's September 2nd holiday has 4 consecutive days off, so the number of tourists choosing to take the boat from the mainland to Phu Quoc Island is expected to increase by 10-15% compared to the same period last year.

"During the holidays, the company expects to welcome more than 2,200 passengers per day. For the high-speed ferry routes from Rach Gia to Phu Quoc and Ha Tien to Phu Quoc, the company still maintains ticket prices, ranging from 216,000 - 325,000 VND/ticket/person (depending on the departure point).

"If the number of customers increases further, we will increase the number of trips," said Mr. Luong.

Mr. Ly Chan An - Director of Vietravel Long Xuyen branch, An Giang - said that after the merger, An Giang has advantages in tourism tours, especially with Phu Quoc international airport welcoming many international tourist markets such as Thailand, Korea, India, Taiwan... to visit.

From available advantages, local travel agencies design tours and tourist routes connecting destinations to serve domestic and foreign tourists coming to An Giang to relax and experience culture associated with spirituality during holidays and Tet.

An Giang Province Department of Tourism reported that on the first day of the September 2 holiday (August 30), An Giang is estimated to welcome more than 77,300 visitors. Of which, Phu Quoc special zone welcomed more than 22,400 visitors, up 5.9% over the same period, with nearly 5,000 international visitors. An Giang's total tourism revenue reached more than 142 billion VND.

"The People's Committee of An Giang province and the department have repeatedly proposed to central ministries and branches to exempt visas for international visitors to Phu Quoc from 30 days to 180 days.

If approved, international visitors can go to other localities in An Giang province for entertainment and relaxation, contributing to the development of synchronous and sustainable tourism" - Mr. Nguyen Thanh Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism of An Giang province, emphasized.

The People's Committee of Phu Quoc Special Economic Zone said that on September 2, the locality will organize many activities such as cultural and artistic performances, fireworks displays in the center and tourist areas on the island to serve tourists.
