Mr. Nguyen Van Tien (left) has achieved many achievements in his professional work. |
Dedicated to the profession
Born and raised in Hue City (old), after graduating from an electrical college, Mr. Tien was recruited into Hue Electricity Company (PC Hue) in 2011 and was assigned to work at A Luoi District Electricity - now the A Luoi Electricity Management Team.
Located in the west of Hue City, A Luoi is a mountainous area with rugged terrain and a sparse population. Due to the nature of the job, each time he goes to check the power lines or fix problems, Mr. Tien and his teammates have to travel dozens of kilometers of mountain and hill roads; many sections have to be on foot. However, once determined to go, wherever there is unstable or damaged electricity, Mr. Tien is often there to handle it, especially during the rainy and stormy season.
According to Mr. Tien, repairing the power grid after storms, tropical depressions, and flash floods is almost an annual routine task in A Luoi. Not only stopping at local work, Mr. Tien also volunteers and joins the support team to repair power after heavy rains and storms in other units and provinces.
One memory that people still remember is that on a rainy afternoon in 2018, the medium voltage power line to Hong Thuy commune (now A Luoi 1) had a problem. Upon receiving the news, Mr. Tien and his teammates traveled more than ten kilometers to handle it. It was raining heavily, the path was slippery, he had to carry each coil of wire and each tool into the village. Around midnight, the problem was fixed, the electricity was back on, and joy spread to every house and household.
Not only handling electrical problems, Mr. Tien often goes to the facility to repair electricity for free for poor households in Hong Bac, A Dot, A Roang communes (places before the merger)...; or in the hot noon, he also takes the time to instruct people on how to use electricity safely and economically.
In 2020, when storm No. 5 made landfall and caused heavy damage in Hue, Mr. Tien and many colleagues from A Luoi unit promptly went down to support the repair of the power grid in Huong Tra town (formerly), contributing to bringing stable light back to this area as soon as possible.
With solid skills and dedication, Mr. Tien was trusted to work as a safety and hygiene officer. With this responsibility, he always proactively reviews safety risks, shares experience in handling situations with his colleagues and quickly updates occupational safety procedures according to industry regulations.

A model of working spirit
Not only is he good at his job, Mr. Tien is also loved by his colleagues for his friendly, simple personality and exemplary lifestyle. He is willing to share his experiences and guide young workers who are new to the job. Many people in the unit call him a “living notebook” because he knows very well the power grid diagram, the locations of stations, and the points where incidents are likely to occur.
In addition to his professional work, he is also a pioneer in cultural and sports movements at the unit. For many years, he was elected as the captain of the A Luoi Electricity football team. In this playground, Tien and his colleagues in the unit achieved many high achievements at sports competitions organized by PC Hue. In humanitarian blood donation campaigns, charity activities or supporting free electricity repairs for people in difficulty, he is always the first to volunteer. He is also exemplary in implementing EVN corporate culture, practicing thrift, fighting waste, and complying with internal regulations. With a healthy lifestyle, a sense of responsibility, and a willingness to learn, he is trusted and respected by many colleagues.
For nearly 14 years of silent but meaningful dedication, electricity worker Nguyen Van Tien, with a yellow hat, orange shirt, pliers in hand, and wire on his shoulder, has persevered through villages, silently "keeping the light" for houses and communities in the highlands. From those works, Mr. Tien has been recognized by all levels of the industry with many awards: Certificate of Merit from Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) in 2020; Certificate of Merit from the State Capital Management Committee at enterprises for the period 2020-2021; Certificate of Merit from the Trade Union, Central Power Company and PC Hue over many years; Excellent Safety and Health Title at the Central Power Corporation level in 2022; and many awards in disaster prevention work...
Mr. Nguyen Dai Phuc, Director of PC Hue shared: “Mr. Nguyen Van Tien is a typical example of a working spirit that is not afraid of difficulties and hardships. Not only does he do well in his assigned work, he also contributes to building a cohesive, positive and professional working environment. He is the pride of the unit, a responsible electricity worker, dedicated to the people of the highlands”.
