On September 26, Dong Nai General Hospital announced that it had just removed a huge breast tumor weighing nearly 10kg from a woman in the area.

Previously, on September 22, Ms. HTTT (44 years old, residing in Trang Bom district) was hospitalized in a state of thinness, paleness, and chest pain.

In particular, in the patient's right chest there was a very large tumor, as big as a pregnant belly and protruding out.

After examination, the doctor determined that the tumor was a serous cyst and had hard lymph nodes. After that, the doctors performed surgery to separate and successfully remove the tumor weighing nearly 10kg from the woman.

Doctor Le Duc Nhan - head of the oncology department, Dong Nai General Hospital - said this is the largest breast tumor the hospital has ever received and treated.

According to Dr. Nhan, the tumor was so large that it was very difficult for the patient to do daily activities. If not operated, the patient could have many complications, hunchback...

On the other hand, large tumors need to be nourished by many blood vessels. Therefore, during surgery, it must be quick and with little bleeding, and skillful to avoid the tumor from rupturing and causing abdominal effusion, which is dangerous for the patient.

At the same time, the skin must be grafted into the hole after the tumor is removed.

After surgery, doctors must take a biopsy sample to accurately determine whether the patient has a malignant or benign tumor in order to have appropriate treatment.

Up to now, the patient's health has stabilized, the pain has gone away and he can be discharged next week.

Informing the doctor, Ms. T. said that about a year ago, she discovered a small lump in her breast. Ms. T. went to the doctor and was given medicine to take at home because the tumor was benign.

However, in the past 6 months, the tumor has grown rapidly, causing pain and difficulty walking, so Ms. T. was hospitalized for a check-up.

Regular breast cancer screening

Doctors recommend that people should have regular health check-ups to detect and treat diseases early, especially women over 40 years old should regularly screen for breast cancer.

In case of suspicion or detection of abnormal breast development, appearance of lymph nodes in the armpit, ulcers or nipple discharge, etc., go to a specialized medical facility for timely examination and treatment.
