From January 1, 2025, Decree 168/2024 on administrative sanctions for violations in the field of road traffic, point deduction, and point restoration of driving licenses takes effect.

According to the decree, many traffic violations will result in motorbike confiscation.

Clause 11, Article 7, Decree 168 stipulates that the vehicle will be confiscated if the driver lets go of both hands while driving; uses his feet to control the vehicle; sits on one side to control the vehicle; lies on the saddle to control the vehicle; changes the driver while the vehicle is running; turns the body to the back to control the vehicle or drives blindfolded; drives a two-wheeled vehicle on one wheel, or a three-wheeled vehicle on two wheels; repeats the act of driving the vehicle in a zigzag or swerving manner.

In addition to having their vehicles confiscated, motorcyclists committing the above violations will also have their driving licenses revoked for 22-24 months.

Clause 17, Article 32 of the Decree also stipulates the confiscation of vehicles for motorbike owners who commit one of the following violations: illegally cutting, welding, erasing, re-tacking, or re-stamping the chassis number or engine number (engine number); putting a vehicle with the chassis number or engine number (engine number) illegally cut, welded, erased, re-tacking, or re-tacking into traffic.

Clause 3, Article 35 stipulates confiscation of vehicles for drivers who illegally race motorbikes or scooters on the road.

In addition to having their vehicle confiscated, drivers who commit the above acts will have their driver's license revoked for 22-24 months.

Clause 4, Article 14 stipulates confiscation of vehicles for the act of driving illegally manufactured or assembled vehicles on the road.

Accordingly, those who drive or use a vehicle without a vehicle registration certificate issued by a competent authority, with incorrect chassis number or engine number, or with an erased vehicle without being able to prove the origin of the vehicle (without documents, certificate of vehicle origin, certificate of legal ownership) will have their vehicle confiscated.
