Mr. Nguyen Hai Tuan, Deputy Head of the General Administration Department, Department of Education and Training, said: As soon as we received news of storm No. 11, the department developed a plan and advised the department's leaders to direct schools to review facilities, reinforce classrooms, and move equipment and records to safe locations. Thanks to that careful preparation, although more than 40 out of 647 schools in the province were affected by storms and floods, by October 13, more than 99% of schools had stabilized teaching and learning, with only a few schools in low-lying areas continuing to clean and disinfect to welcome students back to school soon.
At Huu Lung Ethnic Boarding Secondary School (Huu Lung Commune), floodwaters damaged many facilities, classrooms, and dormitories, and covered them with mud. To quickly return learning to normal, with the spirit of cleaning up as the water receded, teachers, staff, parents, and students worked with local forces to clean up mud, disinfect, and rearrange rooms and classrooms. The cleaning was carried out in parallel with measures to ensure hygiene and safety, check the quality of domestic water, and review the kitchen to soon stabilize boarding activities. Thanks to the responsible intervention and timely support of the authorities, the school was able to return teaching and learning activities to normal in a short time.
Similarly, at That Khe Secondary School, as soon as the flood receded, staff, teachers, parents and military forces did a general cleaning, rearranged tables and chairs, cleaned classrooms, checked the electrical system and teaching equipment. After only two days, the school was back in order, and students returned to school in full. Mr. Nguyen Van Trong, Principal of the school, emphasized: The timely support of parents and armed forces helped the school quickly overcome the consequences of the storm and flood, ensuring the teaching program.
In addition to the two schools above, at other schools, for schools that were slightly affected, the school proactively adjusted the timetable, taught make-up classes weekly, and focused on reviewing interrupted knowledge to ensure program progress; schools with heavy damage temporarily organized classes in safe rooms or switched to controlled online learning; at the same time, professional groups reviewed content and assigned tutors to help students master knowledge.
In addition, schools also proactively coordinate with the commune authorities to mobilize social resources to support books and school supplies for students affected by the damage. Each solution aims to shorten the recovery time and maintain the quality of education, ensuring the school year plan.
Up to this point, the work of overcoming the consequences of the storm at educational establishments in the province has basically been completed. Many schools have not only cleaned and repaired but also taken the opportunity to renovate the landscape, rearrange classrooms and equipment to welcome students in the best conditions. Most units have stabilized order and maintained normal teaching; some heavily affected schools are still organizing teaching while continuing to clean, repair and repair the remaining items to ensure safety and cleanliness. At the same time, schools pay attention to supporting students' psychology, organizing activities at the beginning of the week and life skills classes to help them regain their spirit after the storm. In places with a lot of damage, schools focus on coordinating with unions and social organizations to continue supporting books, supplies, clothes, means of transportation and meals at the beginning of the week, creating conditions for students to attend class fully and study with peace of mind.
After the fierce storm, what remains is not only the effort to overcome the damage but also the belief and solidarity that has been forged through challenges. From the hardships, the image of teachers, students, parents and social forces standing side by side further affirms the humanistic value of education. That "learning rhythm" is not only rekindled but also becomes more steadfast and clearer on the journey of sowing knowledge and nurturing the willpower of future generations.
