The impact of storm No. 11 has caused a lot of damage in the province. Along with that, some northern provinces have also been flooded due to the impact of floods, leading to a decrease or interruption in the supply of essential goods.
Faced with that situation, the Department of Industry and Trade has proactively coordinated with relevant units and People's Committees of communes and wards to closely monitor market developments; requested production and business establishments to proactively develop plans, increase reserves, ensure supply of essential goods, stabilize the market; review and coordinate supply sources..., to avoid shortages and sudden price increases. Therefore, the supply of goods in the provincial market is still guaranteed to meet people's needs.
Mr. Dang Van Dung, Manager of Winmart+ system in Lang Son said: In order for the 14 convenience stores of WinMart+ system in the province to always ensure enough supply of goods to serve the needs of the people, right before storm No. 11 made landfall, we proactively built a plan to reserve goods with a value of about 3 billion VND. In particular, for essential foods such as vegetables, tubers, fruits and pork, we have reviewed and increased supply by about 40% compared to normal days and committed not to increase prices. In addition, Winmart+ system also maintains a 20% discount program for customers who are members of Winmart+ when buying pork, vegetables... Currently, after the storm has passed, we continue to regulate and ensure the supply of goods, not allowing a shortage of goods to serve the people.
Not only retail businesses, but also goods distribution businesses in the province have proactively increased their stockpiles, ready to regulate and promptly circulate goods at retail outlets to serve the people, especially those in areas heavily affected by rain and floods. Ms. Le Thi Minh Trang, Director of Hoang Nguyen Trading Joint Stock Company, said: Currently, the company has a distribution network of goods to about 2,500 agents and retail establishments in all communes and wards in the province. As soon as the rainy season began, the company developed a plan to reserve goods with a total value of 10 billion VND (an increase of 30% compared to normal times); Prepare plans to connect and find more sources of goods from other localities so that supply activities are not interrupted... Thanks to that, before, during and after storm No. 11, the company's source of goods is still abundant, meeting the needs of agents, especially those in areas heavily affected by rain and floods.
In addition to implementing solutions to ensure the supply of goods, the Department of Industry and Trade also directed the Market Management Department (MMD) to strengthen inspection and supervision of goods circulation activities in the market, to prevent businesses from hoarding goods and suddenly increasing prices. Accordingly, the provincial M&A Department has directed M&A teams to strengthen monitoring and closely monitor the area to promptly detect and strictly handle businesses with violations. Mr. Chu Ngoc Ha, Team Leader of M&A Team No. 1, said: Immediately after storm No. 11 passed, the team established a working group to monitor the area, inspect and strictly handle establishments that hoard goods and increase prices in violation of regulations, causing market instability. Through monitoring, currently, the majority of products still maintain stable prices, without major fluctuations compared to the time before storm No. 11 made landfall.
Mr. Hoang Khanh Duy, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Up to now, the supply of goods, especially essential goods, is still guaranteed to fully meet people's needs, and prices are stable. In the coming time, the department will continue to direct functional departments to closely monitor developments, proactively coordinate and deploy solutions to ensure the supply of goods to meet people's needs. At the same time, the department will direct the Market Management Department to strengthen inspection and control of the market, prevent and strictly handle acts of taking advantage of natural disasters to speculate, hoard goods, unreasonably increase prices, and make illegal profits, especially before, during and after rain and floods.
