Mr. Ly Nam Sang (left), a good farmer and businessman in Phu Vinh commune, introduces his family's garden of specialty fruit trees. |
Thanks to his knowledge, calculation of business investment and production development, his family has risen from a poor household to a high income in the locality. When having enough to eat, his family actively contributed to local movements such as contributing money, donating land to build new rural areas; helping local farmers develop production together.
Overcoming poverty thanks to good production and business
Mr. Ly Nam Sang recalls that in the past, his family was also confused in choosing and developing crops, cutting down coffee trees to switch to growing jackfruit and some other fruit trees. In recent years, his family has invested in growing fruit trees with high economic value such as: unnamed avocado, 34 avocado, Thai durian. At the same time, he invested in about 2 hectares of tissue culture bananas to supply the export market.
Not only pioneering in crop conversion, Mr. Sang's family also boldly applied high technology to production such as hiring drone services to spray pesticides to care for crops. Thanks to his good planting, care, and pest control techniques, his family's specialty fruit gardens have high productivity and delicious fruit quality. According to Mr. Sang, to achieve high economic efficiency from specialty trees, he also applies care techniques to help the trees bear fruit early, sell at high prices, and limit the risk of falling prices during peak seasons.
Mr. Ly Nam Sang and his wife opened a business selling specialty fruits from their garden. During the harvest season, his family's store retails several hundred kilograms of avocado and durian per day. In addition, some local fruit traders and neighboring areas have also become consumers of this talented farmer and businessman's fruits.
Diligence in work is also the secret to Mr. Sang's family's success. He and his wife are both workaholics. In addition to running an agricultural supplies store, they still work to take care of the garden every day, from fertilizing, spraying pesticides...
Mr. Tran Xuan Long, former Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Phu Vinh Commune, commented that, being of Chinese origin, Mr. Ly Nam Sang and his wife are both good at business and good farmers, pioneering in converting crops for high economic efficiency. Mr. Sang is a member of the local Agricultural Production Cooperative Group, willing to share experiences and support many farmers to develop production together.
Actively building new rural areas
Mr. Ly Nam Sang's family's agricultural supplies store located on District Road 120 (formerly called) has been in operation for more than 30 years. This is a trusted address for local farmers when they need to buy agricultural supplies from fertilizers to seeds, pesticides... The relationship between his family and farmers in the area is also close because the store is willing to let people buy supplies on credit, and only pay when the harvest season comes when they have sold their agricultural products.
He shared: “The store not only sells materials to farmers but also advises on how to use the products properly and effectively. As a farmer myself, I am willing to share my experience in caring for and treating diseases on plants.”
Mr. Tran Xuan Long added that Mr. Sang's family actively contributes to local movements, especially in the construction of new rural areas. Every year, Mr. Sang's family is always willing to support money for charity activities, giving bicycles and scholarships to poor and studious students in the locality. His family also actively contributes money and donates land for rural road construction. In the past expansion of District Road 120 alone, his family donated about 2,000 square meters of land, contributing tens of millions of VND to the socialization of rural traffic. Mr. Sang and his wife are also generous donors who are always willing to support funding for the activities of the Commune Farmers' Association in movements and activities...
