On the morning of October 15, Hanoi Radio and Television (PT-TH) held a press conference to launch the Hanoi Singing Contest 2025.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Nguyen Kim Khiem - General Director and Editor-in-Chief of Hanoi Radio and Television Station - said that Hanoi Singing 2025 continues to aim to discover and nurture musical talents.

Mr. Khiem said: “The competition is an important step for Hanoi to become a destination for contemporary art and creative activities. Music products from the competition are spread on many platforms, and high-ranking contestants regularly participate in top art programs organized by the city, accompanying the completion of the cultural and artistic ecosystem of Hanoi.”
The new feature of this year's contest is the expansion of the contestants to the global level. The contest welcomes contestants from all over the world , regardless of nationality, but all must perform songs in Vietnamese.
This requirement not only demonstrates the spirit of honoring Vietnamese culture, but also helps international contestants experience and spread the beauty of Vietnamese to the international community. For the convenience of foreign contestants, the Organizing Committee allows them to submit videos for the preliminary round and only participate directly from the semi-finals onwards, reducing the difficulty of traveling.

At the event, People's Artist Quang Vinh, Chairman of the Hanoi Music Association and Head of the competition's Jury, shared that innovation and adding musical challenges helps contestants balance their psychology and bring new and exciting experiences to the audience (Photo: Organizing Committee).
Answering questions about the regulations for international contestants, People's Artist Quang Vinh - Chairman of the Hanoi Music Association and Head of the Jury - said that requiring foreign contestants to sing in Vietnamese is necessary, but daily communication requirements can be flexible to avoid creating pressure.
He said this adjustment will be more convenient for candidates, help increase the number of registrations, and at the same time reflect the reality of deep integration of foreigners in Vietnam.
“We cannot demand that a foreigner sing like a Vietnamese singer, but that does not mean losing the balance. The Council will have a way of listening to suit the conditions of foreigners when singing in Vietnamese,” said People’s Artist Quang Vinh.
In addition, People's Artist Quang Vinh also revealed that one of the outstanding changes of Hanoi Singing 2025 is a series of new musical challenges, including improvisational singing, remixing (variation, rearrangement of an original song) within a limited time and performing with musical instruments.
These challenges help contestants develop diverse performance skills beyond vocals, bringing a new and attractive feeling to the audience. Separating musical styles including chamber music, pop music and folk music, combined with 3 separate professional judging panels, helps contestants have a better mentality and ensures fairness in the evaluation.
In addition to People's Artist Quang Vinh, the jury and professional advisors of this year's competition include many prestigious names such as: People's Artist Quoc Hung (Director of the Vietnam National Academy of Music), People's Artist Ha Thuy, People's Artist Mai Hoa, People's Artist Thanh Lam, People's Artist Tan Minh, along with singers Anh Tho, Ho Quynh Huong, Khanh Linh and musician Le Minh Son.
The finals for chamber music, pop music, and folk music were held on November 27, November 30, and December 3, respectively, before the final ranking and official award ceremony on December 9. The highest prize is worth VND600 million (cash and a car).
