In 2025, the country will have two female candidates proposed for the title of Associate Professor of Mathematics. Of these, Dr. Le Hai Yen, Institute of Mathematics - Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, is the youngest female candidate.
Dr. Le Hai Yen was born in 1987, from Hai Phong, and is currently a senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematics, Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology. At the same time, Ms. Yen is a visiting lecturer at the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi and the Academy of Science and Technology.

Ms. Le Hai Yen graduated from Hanoi National University of Education, majoring in Mathematics Education, in 2008.
In 2010, she received a master's degree in Mathematics, majoring in Applied Mathematics, from the University of Toulouse III (France).
In 2013, also at the University of Toulouse III, at the age of 26, she was awarded a PhD in Mathematics, specializing in Applied Mathematics.
The main research directions of Dr. Le Hai Yen include: Matrix optimization; algorithms for solving split acceptance problems; algorithms for solving equilibrium problems.
To date, the female doctor has published 15 scientific articles, all of which have been published in prestigious international journals.
In Vietnam, Mathematics is one of the fields where it is very rare for female scientists to hold the title of professor or associate professor.
Since the first professorship in 1956, in nearly 70 years, Vietnam has only had 3 female professors recognized in Mathematics.
The most recent female professor of Mathematics is Professor Ta Thi Hoai An (born in 1972), recognized as a qualified professor in 2023.
The first female scientist to be recognized as a professor of Mathematics was Professor Hoang Xuan Sinh, recognized in 1980 when she was 47 years old.
The second person is Professor Le Thi Thanh Nhan, recognized in 2015, at the age of 45. Previously, Ms. Le Thi Thanh Nhan was recognized as an associate professor of Mathematics at the age of 35, becoming the youngest associate professor in 2005.
