Many young girls of Ho Chi Minh City have become more steadfast and mature through the parades A70 (celebrating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory), A50 (50 years of national reunification), A80 (80 years of the successful August Revolution and National Day September 2).

For them, each parade is not only a duty but also a journey to train their will, faith and desire to contribute.

Train yourself in the training ground

Ms. Tran Kim Ngan (24 years old) is a regular militia soldier of Phu Lam ward, having participated in the A50 and A80 parades twice. For Ngan, those are unforgettable memories.

"My first feeling was honor and pride when I was able to wear the traditional Vietnamese outfit, checkered scarf, and conical hat, an image reminiscent of the old guerrillas. My grandmother was a guerrillas who participated in protecting the country, so I want to continue that spirit and contribute my small part to the Fatherland," Ngan said. Her bright smile still remains in her memory of the training days.

During the months of rigorous training, Ngan learned the most about discipline and patience. Ngan said: "According to the military schedule, we had to practice seriously every minute, every second. Sometimes we had to stand at attention for 30 minutes, but from that I learned to be calmer and more persistent in everything."

Once a hot-tempered and quiet girl, Ngan is now more confident, sociable and mature. It was the days at the training ground that helped her change herself. After completing her mission, Ngan continued to write a volunteer application to join the army, something she had cherished since she was 18 years old.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong Quynh (25 years old, militia soldier of Dien Hong ward) also participated in the A50 and A80 parade formations twice.

"When I learned that I was chosen to participate in such a big mission, I was very honored and grateful to the commander for his trust. When I first started training, I didn't think I could go such a long distance. But when we marched amidst the arms of the people, with both sides of the street waving and waving flags, we walked the whole way without feeling tired."

What Quynh cherishes most after that journey is the discipline and living habits that she has carried with her to this day. "At home, it is difficult to train myself to follow such a strict framework. But when I join the team, everything is on time. That helps me live a more disciplined, responsible and independent life," Quynh said.

Three parades, one dream wearing army green

More specifically, Ms. Lam Quynh Van (24 years old, student of Ho Chi Minh City University of Law) is one of the people who participated in the parades A70, A50 and A80 three times in a row.

From the first awkward days, Van gradually got used to the strict lifestyle, solidarity and strong will.

"The hardships and strict discipline are no longer obstacles, but motivation for me to try harder every day. When we walk amidst the applause of thousands of people, all fatigue disappears. I feel patriotism spreading everywhere, a strong and rising Vietnam," Van said.

After that journey, Van volunteered to join the army in 2026.

"Since I was little, I have loved the image of a soldier. After three parades, I realized that the military environment is where I want to contribute. If I have the conditions, I want to serve in the military for a long time," Van said, her voice resolute but full of confidence.

Among thousands of faces in the parade formation, those "flowers" continue to shine, quietly but steadfastly, contributing to writing the beautiful story of the youth of the city named after Uncle Ho. The young people are always ready to commit, contribute and then grow up.

These girls were honored at the conference to honor the forces participating in the A80 parade organized by the Ho Chi Minh City Command on the afternoon of October 9. In A80, the Ho Chi Minh City Command was assigned to train a group (the Southern female guerilla group) with 244 soldiers. Despite the harsh weather, prolonged heat, and difficult living and eating conditions, all officers, soldiers, and militia always showed their determination and excellently completed the assigned tasks.
