Promoting prestigious people in drug prevention and control work

As a mountainous, border and island province with 43 ethnic groups living together, Quang Ninh currently has nearly 400 prestigious people in the ethnic minority area. Prestigious people are not only shining examples in social life, but also a core force playing an important role on the front of maintaining security and order, especially in the work of preventing and combating drug abuse, contributing greatly to the peace and development of Quang Ninh province.

Yen Tu ward police worked with Mr. Trieu Van Ut, Secretary, Head of Khe Su 1 area.

In Yen Tu ward, an area with a large number of ethnic minorities, especially the Dao Thanh Y ethnic group, in recent times, there have been a number of young people using drugs, causing many consequences, such as regularly gathering to inject drugs, racing, and revving their engines, causing disorder. Faced with this reality, Mr. Trieu Van Ut, Secretary and Head of Khe Su 1 area (Yen Tu ward) - a prestigious person in the ethnic minority area - has propagated and informed about the harmful effects of drugs in the area meetings, and he has also visited each family with teenagers, advising parents to pay attention to their children and stay away from social evils.

In addition, Mr. Trieu Van Ut has coordinated with the Ward Police to organize community activities, integrating the dissemination of laws and consequences of drug trafficking and use in the Dao language, helping people understand clearly and easily access, helping people gradually raise their sense of responsibility to maintain security and order in the locality.

In recent times, to ensure security and order in the area, especially the work of preventing and combating drug abuse, Yen Tu Ward Police regularly organize meetings, disseminate laws, provide information on security and order and mobilize prestigious people to actively participate in the movement "All people protect national security". From the beginning of 2025 up to now, the Ward Police have mobilized and enlisted prestigious people to participate in resolving over 20 cases related to drug abuse, resolving conflicts, security and order at the grassroots level...; propagandized over 20 sessions in residential villages on compliance with traffic laws, prevention and combat of drug abuse, the Law on Cyber Security and guided people to give opinions on the 2013 amended Constitution on VNEID and national digital transformation.

Like Mr. Trieu Van Ut, Mr. San A Sec, Secretary and Head of Po Hen Village (Hai Son Commune) has accompanied the Commune Police in propagating and mobilizing people not to use or illegally trade drugs, not to illegally cross the border, not to listen to distorted arguments, and not to assist in violations of border and territorial laws. Thanks to that, people's awareness has been raised, and security and order at the grassroots level have been ensured.

Hai Son Commune Police met and exchanged information with Mr. San A Sec, Secretary and Head of Po Hen Village.

After the administrative unit arrangement, Hai Son commune was established on the basis of merging Bac Son commune and Hai Son commune. This is a large area with a large population, many ethnic minorities living together, bordering China, with potential risks of complex security and order. In that situation, Hai Son commune police have identified the effective promotion of the role of prestigious people as a key, strategic solution in ensuring security and order at the grassroots level. In that condition, Hai Son commune police have proactively deployed many solutions to prevent and combat drug abuse, illegal border crossing... in which, special importance is attached to promoting the role of prestigious people among ethnic minorities to propagate, mobilize, provide information and orient public opinion in mobilizing people not to use or illegally trade drugs, ensuring security and order at the grassroots level. Through that, prestigious people have become the "eyes and ears" of the police force in managing the area and maintaining security and order.

In addition, prestigious people are always the core in participating in building the movement of the whole people to protect national security, especially in implementing the construction of "Self-managed People's Security and Order Groups". Up to now, the whole province has built 4,134 self-managed People's Security and Order Groups, thereby reducing the rate of criminal offenses, especially drug crimes, property theft and mobilizing drug addicts to voluntarily go to drug rehabilitation, contributing to ensuring security and order in ethnic minority and mountainous areas.

It can be said that thanks to the active participation of prestigious people, the security and order situation, especially the work of preventing and combating drug abuse in ethnic minority areas in the whole province, is always stable, creating favorable conditions for socio -economic development.
