Although the administrative unit has just been merged and the organization structure of the association has not been officially completed, the Mai Phu Commune Elderly Association has promptly connected and maintained the movement activities at 35 branches of the commune. Responding to the Action Month for the Elderly this year with the theme "Promoting the role of the elderly in the era of growing up", the association held a launching ceremony combined with a summary of 9 months of activities and deployment of tasks for the last months of the year.

The highlight of the series of activities is the free health check-up program for 300 elderly people and policy families. Here, the elderly receive a general health check-up; check for eye, blood pressure, and cardiovascular diseases; and receive advice on nutrition, rest, and exercise regimens appropriate to their physical condition and age.
Ms. Phan Thi Huong (72 years old, Kim Ngoc village) shared: “Being old and suffering from many underlying diseases, I am quite concerned about health care. Examination and consultation programs like this are very practical, helping us monitor our health status to have a more reasonable living plan.”

Along with health care activities, the Mai Phu Commune Elderly Association also directed its branches to organize cultural and sports exchanges, and mobilize funds to give gifts to members. Mr. Tran Dinh Hoa - in charge of the Mai Phu Commune Elderly Association said: "Although there are many difficulties due to the incomplete commune-level association apparatus, lack of human resources and funding, we always strive to organize activities for the elderly; linking the activities with the local political tasks. Thereby, encouraging the elderly to continue to promote their roles and contribute to community life."
In addition to the movement activities, the commune-level Elderly Association is also preparing the necessary conditions to hold the congress and perfect the organization structure of the association. In Thach Lac commune, the preparation work for the congress of the Commune Elderly Association is being urgently deployed.

Mr. Nguyen Nam Long - in charge of the Elderly Association of Thach Lac commune informed: "The Congress of the Elderly Association of the commune will be held in mid-October. Currently, we have basically completed the related documents and materials. Regarding personnel, the association will select people with health, prestige, capacity and enthusiasm at the grassroots level to participate in the executive committee, to be the core of the movement".

This year, the implementation of the Action Month for the Elderly in the province has encountered many difficulties because the organization of the association in the localities has not been completed after the merger of administrative units, while the funding source is still limited. However, the association at all levels has closely followed the direction and guidance of the superiors, at the same time promoting proactiveness, creativity, and flexibility in integrating activities of visiting, giving gifts, health check-ups, cultural and sports exchanges to ensure that the movement is still vibrant and practical.
“In the new era, the elderly are not only the ones who need to be cared for but also an important force, contributing to preserving traditions, educating the younger generation and building cultural life in the community. Activities during the month of action are an opportunity to spread that message, at the same time strengthening trust and connection between generations; contributing to encouraging the elderly to continue to live happily, healthily, and usefully, joining hands with the community to build an increasingly prosperous homeland.”
