Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant breaks through the "sprint"

By the end of September 2025, Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant (located in Vung Ang Economic Zone, under Ha Tinh Petroleum Power Company) had supplied about 4,790 million kWh to the national grid. In the context of the economic recovery and acceleration, the plant has contributed to ensuring electricity load and promoting the growth of the industrial production index of Ha Tinh province.

Faced with the high demand for electricity in the last months of the year - the peak time of production and business activities of the business community across the country, Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company continues to operate Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant according to the capacity optimization plan. The unit's goal is to complete the target of 6.5 billion kWh in 2025, with an expected revenue of about VND 11,816 billion.

One of the current key tasks is to ensure a stable coal supply for the Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant with a total capacity of 1,200 MW. Accordingly, Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company has coordinated with Vietnam Oil and Gas Power Corporation and related units to deploy a plan to continuously supply coal, meeting the requirements of safe and effective operation.

At the factory's dedicated wharf, the working atmosphere was urgent and hurried when the staff and engineers of the Fuel Workshop received the 30,000-ton coal ship arriving at the port, ensuring time before storm No. 10 made landfall. Coal was unloaded and transported to the warehouse via a modern conveyor system, ensuring smooth and continuous operation.

Mr. Vu Van Tho - Fuel Workshop Manager said: "Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant uses direct injection coal combustion technology, subcritical steam parameters, with main equipment from G7 countries. To serve the production line, on average every 2 days we welcome a ship to the port with a capacity of 20,000 - 30,000 tons/ship. With the current load situation, the factory consumes on average over 7,000 tons of coal per day. To ensure the line operates smoothly and stably, Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company has mobilized over 300,000 tons of coal at the warehouse to serve the power production line. Depending on the actual situation in the last months of the year, coal supply will take place regularly, continuously, ready for the generator to operate"

At the Central Control Room - considered the "brain" of Vung Ang 1 Thermal Power Plant, all technical parameters from the 2 generators (total capacity of each unit is 600 MW) are strictly monitored by a team of experts and engineers 24/7.

Mr. Le Ba Hung - Deputy Manager of Operation Workshop said: "Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company is closely coordinating with Vietnam Electricity Group and the National Dispatch Center to mobilize maximum capacity to meet the increasing load demand at the end of the year. Currently, on average, the plant generates over 16 million kWh per day to the grid."

In parallel with the task of operating power generation, Ha Tinh Oil and Gas Power Company also coordinates to synchronously deploy periodic maintenance and repair of generators; collects and treats ash and slag, ensuring both safe operation and compliance with environmental protection requirements.

Considering that the end of the year coincides with the rainy and stormy season, the company has also developed a specific disaster prevention and search and rescue plan, suitable for local conditions. Departments and workshops are required to follow the "4 on-site" motto to respond promptly and ensure safe and continuous operation.

At the end of the year, the business community boosted production and business, leading to increased demand for electricity.

At the same time, strengthen technical management, safety and labor protection; take full advantage of favorable conditions in terms of load demand, weather and climate, and implement flexible bidding to increase profits and output for the factory.
