An Binh Ward launched a movement to clean up trash on the canal system.

(CT) - On September 27, the People's Committee of An Binh Ward coordinated with Mekong Silt Ecolodge and The Green Paddle to organize a launching ceremony to clean up trash on the river/canal system and plant trees to prevent landslides, protect the environment and develop the sport of SUP in An Binh Ward.

This is one of the activities responding to the special emulation movement to achieve achievements in welcoming the congresses of party committees at all levels towards the 14th National Congress of the Party, maintaining the models of "Volunteer Saturday", "Green Sunday", contributing to building a ward that meets urban civilized standards. At the same time, responding to the campaign to make the world cleaner by 2025, continuing the activity "Rowing for a green river" towards the value of green tourism; responding to World Tourism Day September 27, 2025 with the theme "Tourism and sustainable transformation" towards responsible tourism, climate change adaptation and environmental protection.

Accordingly, the event had more than 100 volunteers who were youth union members, students, and local residents. The volunteers collected trash on Ong De canal (My Nhon area) by sampan, SUP board; collected trash on the roads along the canals.

At the launching ceremony of the movement, Mr. Nguyen Viet Cuong, Standing Vice Chairman of An Binh Ward People's Committee, emphasized that this is an activity to arouse the spirit of responsibility for the community, joining hands to protect the sustainable living environment, especially the current rivers and canals. An Binh Ward is oriented to be an ecological urban area along the river, balancing the harmony between modern amenities and the natural value of rivers and water. The combination of a clean environment and green landscape has opened up the potential for tourism and sports exploitation, especially making SUP a unique local product.
