Admission method of National Economics University NEU in 2024

In 2024, the National Economics University (NEU) will no longer consider admission based on academic records, reserving half of its quota for admission based on certificate scores and separate exams.

According to the enrollment plan announced by the National Economics University on the afternoon of December 28, in 2024 the school will enroll 6,200 students, equal to 2023.

Of which, the school will directly recruit 2% of the total quota, 18% for the 2024 high school graduation exam score method. The remaining 80%, the National Economics University will recruit in combination according to its own project. Compared to 2023, the quota for the graduation exam will decrease by 7%, this number will be transferred to combined recruitment. Thus, in four years, the National Economics University will reduce the graduation exam quota from 70% to 18%.

With the combined admission method according to a separate project, the school divides candidates into two groups, shortened compared to five groups in 2023.

Group 1 includes candidates who register for admission based on SAT or ACT scores; HSA and APT scores of Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City National Universities; TSA scores of Hanoi University of Science and Technology; or a combination of English certificate scores with one of the three above-mentioned test scores. The quota for this group is 50%.

Admission score is the certificate score converted to a 30-point scale with priority points (if any).

Group 2 is for candidates who use high school graduation exam scores combined with international English certificates, accounting for 30% of the target. The conditions for certificate scores to receive applications are similar to group 1.

Candidates will use the converted certificate score to replace the English test score in the admission combination. The admission score is the total score of the two graduation exams plus the converted certificate score and priority points (if any).

Thus, the National Economics University no longer recruits students based on academic records. In previous years, this group of candidates accounted for about 10-15% of the target. This is also a popular recruitment method in most universities.

Explaining, Associate Professor Dr. Bui Duc Trieu, Head of the Training Management Department, said that the school's viewpoint is to gradually reduce the dependence on high school results in admission. Over the years, the school has found that most of the excellent students in specialized schools - the group eligible for admission by transcripts to the National Economics University - are eligible for admission by international certificates or separate exam scores.

"Removing the need to consider academic records for students at specialized schools will reduce the false rate, because a student can use many methods," said Mr. Trieu.

For candidates using the scores of three subjects in the 2024 high school graduation exam for admission, the expected threshold for ensuring input quality is 20. The National Economics University said it will announce specifically later.

Admission combinations using this method include A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English), D09 (Math, History, English), D10 (Math, Geography, English), B00 (Math, Chemistry, Biology), C03 (Math, Literature, History), C04 (Math, Literature, Geography).

Targets for each major of National Economics University in 2024:

In 2023, the school's graduation exam score standard will range from 8.5 to 9 points per subject. Tuition fees at the National Economics University are currently around 16 to 22 million VND for standard programs.

At the end of this year, the National Economics University will establish three affiliated schools including Economics, Business Administration, and Science and Technology, expected to become universities in 2025.
