National Highway 40B connecting Quang Ngai province with Da Nang city plays an important role in economic development and goods circulation but is currently severely degraded. Present at Km168+900 (on National Highway 40B, through Tu Mo Rong commune, Quang Ngai province), we witnessed a 30m long section of road with landslides and subsidence on the side of the road. Although the authorities had temporarily poured rocks to reinforce the road for vehicles to move, this layer of rocks continued to be "blown away" by rainwater, causing the landslide to widen.

According to Mr. Vo Trung Manh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Tu Mo Rong Commune, the collapsed road section on National Highway 40B passing through the commune is directly threatening the lives of people, especially students. In the past, the repair work was only temporary, not thorough, potentially dangerous and greatly affected the economic development in the communes in the West of Quang Ngai. Many tourist groups had to turn back because the road was degraded. The commune proposed to soon invest in a drainage system at the collapsed location, ending the landslide situation, helping people feel secure when traveling.

Going down to the border commune of Dak Long (Quang Ngai province), we recorded that the DH85 road, which is more than 18km long, connecting from the Dak Mon commune intersection to the commune center, was also severely damaged. Due to many years of lack of maintenance and repair, combined with the impact of annual storms and rains, the road surface is full of potholes, becoming a constant nightmare for the people. Mr. Nguyen Van Dieu, Chairman of the People's Committee of Dak Long commune, said: Due to the damaged road, it takes people more than an hour to travel this 18km distance. The degraded road causes many people to fall off their motorbikes, especially at night. Taking patients to the hospital or transporting agricultural products is also very difficult. Agricultural products are often forced to lower prices by traders, making people's lives even more difficult.

Serious damage to many roads also occurred in Gia Lai province. National Highway 14C plays an important role in economic development and traffic in the border communes in the west of Gia Lai, but the section from Ia Dom commune to Ia Chia commune is seriously degraded. The road surface has many points of subsidence, peeling, and gravel layer protruding. Many locations have been repaired but then continue to be damaged, and the stone layer can be separated by gently peeling.

Nguyen Trai Street (also known as Kong Chro bypass, in Kong Chro commune, Gia Lai province) is also densely covered with potholes. The road surface is riddled with deep holes and stagnant water, turning this place into a "road of suffering" for drivers every time they pass by. On the road, people have to place foam boxes to warn passing vehicles. According to the leader of Kong Chro commune People's Committee, to ensure travel, in the short term, the locality will mobilize resources to support overcoming the sinking and muddy situation. In the long term, the commune has a plan to register for medium-term capital. If capital is allocated soon, the locality will invest in repairing the road.
