After conceding the goal, the UEFA Champions League runners-up pushed up their formation to find an equalizer. Their efforts were rewarded in the 42nd minute when Carlos Augusto assisted Lautaro Martinez to score into an empty net, tying the score at 1-1.

Entering the second half, Inter continued to press with many dangerous situations, but Monterrey's defense remained resilient.

Opportunities continued to come to Inter in the 77th and 80th minutes, but Lautaro and Zalewski respectively could not take advantage.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw, a result that Monterrey can be proud of, while Inter must improve if they want to go far at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.
