More than 4 months after being officially sold in Vietnam, the Galaxy S25 Edge has dropped sharply when it was widely sold at many dealers. The pioneering ultra-thin phone line from Samsung is listed at 30 and 33.5 million VND respectively. The main difference lies in the internal memory capacity. The product appeared in the middle of a low market period, expected to help the Korean brand revive flagship sales.

However, in the middle of its life cycle, the device has been discounted by more than 30% of its original price by dealers. Specifically, a dealer with many stores in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City listed the price for the 12 GB RAM, 256 GB internal memory version at 18.5 million VND, instead of 30 million VND 4 months ago, a reduction of 11.5 million VND. At some larger retailers, this model is listed at 21-22 million VND. Similarly, the 512 GB high memory version is only 20.7 million VND, a reduction of 12.2 million VND compared to the listed price.

Samsung flagships have a higher depreciation margin than iPhones. However, the S25 Edge is still the deepest discount ever recorded in the Vietnamese market. S Ultra models are often discounted by dealers by up to 10 million VND, half a year after their launch. Meanwhile, the super-thin device, which was just released in May, is now discounted by more than 11 million VND.

The company’s price adjustment is also an opportunity for customers in need to easily own the device. However, this strategy affects early buyers. Just a few months after receiving the device, their phone has lost tens of millions of dong in value. If this group wants to resell, they will suffer losses in the secondary market.

This strategy also affects the manufacturer’s recognition and sales in the long run. The prejudice of “depreciation quickly” makes users lose trust in the manufacturer. Instead of paying for the first purchase to own it early, they tend to wait for a discount.

The Galaxy S25 Edge appeared at the beginning of the year, at the same time as other products of the S25 series. However, the company only displayed a test version at the event, without revealing the product's specifications. It was not until early May that the Korean brand officially launched the product. The Galaxy S25 Edge impresses with its impressive thinness and light weight.

The device goes against the trend of thicker and heavier flagships recently. In return, the battery capacity of the product stops at 3,900 mAh, significantly lower than phones with the same screen size. Samsung also cut the camera of this model, leaving only the main sensor and ultra-wide lens, no longer the telephoto camera. However, in tests, Samsung's product surprised with a usage time that is not inferior to models with 4,000-4,500 mAh batteries.

Less than a year after the Galaxy S25 Edge launched, reports from South Korea suggest that the successor has been canceled due to low sales and a change in business direction.

According to internal reports, the Galaxy S26 Edge was designed with a 4,200 mAh battery and a rear camera cluster with multiple lenses. Although it was assessed to have potential, this project was stopped before completion. Meanwhile, Apple is also facing a situation of slower-than-expected iPhone Air sales, showing that the ultra-thin phone line is not really attractive to users.

Analysts say Samsung’s constant changes in direction could make its brand image unstable in the eyes of users. The South Korean tech giant was once a symbol of innovation in the mobile industry. However, in recent years, Samsung has been reacting to trends instead of creating something new.
