“The patient had three open wounds on his head, two of which were small and shallow on the top of the head; the wound on the occipital region was larger and deeper. The wound openings were jagged, and were suspected to have been caused by a hard, blunt object. We treated and stitched seven stitches on the three wounds,” Dr. Da informed.
Doctors also noted many bruises on the body of patient L.. These were traces of being hit with a blunt object, new wounds, suspected of being abused recently. In addition, on the patient's body there were many old wounds that had faded and healed, according to doctor Da "too many to count".
After 2 days, the patient responded well to treatment and was in stable condition. To create the best conditions for the treatment process and to restore health and spirit, the hospital arranged for patient L. to stay in a separate treatment room.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai Ha, head nurse of the Department of Trauma and Neurosurgery, said that from the time patient L. was admitted to the hospital until now, only Ms. TTH (mother of L.'s stepfather) has taken care of him.
The Department also proposed that the hospital's Social Work Department support the mother and child patient L. with three meals a day during treatment.
As Dan Tri reported, on October 19, information about a child abuse case appeared on social media, with pictures of L. with a head injury and many injuries on her arms, legs, buttocks and back.
The verification process showed that L. was abused by her stepfather Nguyen Van Nam (born 1994, residing in Co Dam commune).

L. is the child of Ms. BTB (born in 1996, from To Mua commune, Son La province) and her ex-husband. In 2022, Ms. B. remarried Nguyen Van Nam and had 2 children with him.
On the morning of October 20, the Investigation Police Agency of Ha Tinh Province Police said they were clarifying the act of intentionally causing injury to Nguyen Van Nam.
Before that, when the incident was discovered, Nam fled. On the evening of October 19, the police discovered this man hiding on the roof of his mother’s house and arrested him.
Initially, the authorities clarified that on the evening of October 18, Nguyen Van Nam used his hands and a wooden stick to repeatedly hit his wife's stepchild. Afterwards, Nam continued to use a hammer to hit L. in the head, causing her to be injured and bleeding. After committing the crime, Nam bandaged her and then let her go to sleep.
The next morning, Nguyen Van Nam locked the child in the house and went to work. The child cried for help and was discovered by neighbors who reported it to the local authorities.
