In many cultural spaces of Hanoi's Old Quarter, the cultural heritage of the ancient Mid-Autumn Festival is vividly and colorfully recreated. The lantern procession in the "Full Moon Festival Night" on the walking street of Hoan Kiem Lake attracts a large number of people and tourists on weekends. At the Center for Culture and Arts - 22 Hang Buom, Hoan Kiem, artisans and craftsmen from craft villages near Hanoi introduce and guide how to make traditional toys such as paper doctors, stick-playing men, papier-mâché masks, star lanterns, dough animals, etc.
Artist Nguyen Ky, Doodle Art Studio, guides young visitors to make toys from recycled materials. At Kim Ngan Communal House, 42-44 Hang Bac, for the first time, residents and visitors have the opportunity to admire the ancient Northern lion head, which has just been reconstructed by researcher Kevin Vuong based on documents from the French Museum and the Vietnamese School of the Far East. The ancient Mid-Autumn Festival is also vividly recreated through traditional offerings with autumn fruits, moon cakes, dough animals, small lion heads, fruits carved according to ancient stories...

The World Heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel is resplendent with displays of ancient Mid-Autumn toys, of which the most attractive are the ancient lamps that have been restored by Thanh Oai artisans through photographic materials from the Quai Branly Museum (France), the French School of the Far East, such as drum lamps, rabbit lamps, star lamps, shrimp and fish lamps, and double lamps... made from Do paper or cellophane, painted in vivid colors. Also at the World Heritage site of Thang Long Imperial Citadel, for the first time, the royal Mid-Autumn Festival of the 11th and 12th centuries was introduced to visitors. The system of panels introduces historical documents and the system of paintings recreates the activities that took place during the royal Mid-Autumn Festival more than 1,000 years ago.
At the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, the traditional Mid-Autumn Festival is presented through familiar toys, lion dances, lantern processions, and bustling water puppetry by the Dong Ngu puppet troupe (Bac Ninh). Children can participate in many discovery activities such as listening to picture stories about the origin of the Mid-Autumn Festival, transforming into child puppet characters, trying their hand puppetry skills, and painting Mid-Autumn-themed pictures...
A very special point in this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is that there are many activities applying technology in creative activities, promoting heritage values, bringing many new and attractive things to people and tourists. At the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology, children play and learn, connecting the joy of discovery with folk cultural values and scientific knowledge through scientific exploration activities. The organizers also bring an interesting experience, connecting heritage and digital technology through the experience with the "AI Paper Doctor". With the "Paper Doctor" made by this technology, young people have the opportunity to chat, ask questions to hear answers about the Mid-Autumn Festival. This is an activity that brings new experiences, attracting generations Z and Alpha.

Talking to us, Dr. An Thu Tra, Head of the Department of Communication and Education, Vietnam Museum of Ethnology shared that some of the contents on display this year are the result of the 30-year journey of accompanying the preservation, creation and development of folk toys of the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology with many artisans. In particular, "Al Paper Doctor" is the result of many months of museum staff and a group of young people who love culture... The above activities all started from the passion, love and efforts to preserve and sustainably bring traditional cultural heritage to continue living in contemporary life, becoming valuable cultural products, serving the community.
Regarding this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, the Management Board of Hoan Kiem Lake and Hanoi Old Quarter said that in Hanoi, the lantern procession "Full Moon Festival Night" was held in 126 communes and wards, of which the lantern procession in Hoan Kiem was chosen as the city's focal point. The event has special significance, both demonstrating the attention of authorities at all levels and being an opportunity to preserve and promote the value of national cultural heritage in contemporary life.
