Representatives of War Veterans Associations at all levels in the Southern provinces and cities participated in the exchange program "Improving the capacity to transform awareness and thinking in building new rural areas in the 2021-2025 period" in Can Tho City.
An Luc Long commune, Tay Ninh province has more than 1,881 hectares of land for growing dragon fruit using high technology; of which, 184 hectares meet VietGAP standards, more than 86 hectares are granted GLOBALGAP certificates. Many members of the commune's War Veterans Association apply high technology to grow dragon fruit, such as: automatic watering, energy-saving lighting, using smartphones to monitor the growth of plants... The model of growing dragon fruit using high technology helps improve the lives of members of the An Luc Long commune's War Veterans Association. Currently, 95% of the commune's War Veterans Association members are well-off and rich; there are no members who are poor or have difficulty in housing.
From 2021 to now, the Veterans Association of An Luc Long commune has donated more than 1,500m² of land, contributed over 1 billion VND, 1,000 working days to build roads. The Commune Veterans Association participated in mobilizing the implementation of the "Lighting Route" models, with a total length of 38km and the "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe Route" model, with a total length of 28km, with a total value of 700 million VND. Mr. Le Thuong, Chairman of the Commune Veterans Association, said: "We have proactively established and maintained many skillful mass mobilization models, such as: Mediation Team, Civil Defense Veterans participating in patrols to ensure security and order, Environmental Landscape Club... Thereby, promoting the exemplary role of cadres and members in building new rural areas".
In Can Tho City, the Veterans Association at all levels has stepped up propaganda, aroused the will to be self-reliant and self-reliant to escape poverty sustainably among veterans; mobilized members to actively and effectively participate in the national target program to build new rural areas and civilized urban areas; coordinated with departments, branches and organizations to propagate and mobilize people to register to implement the criteria of "New Rural Cultural Households"... Every year, the Veterans Association at all levels has a specific plan of activities to participate in building new rural areas, suitable to the local reality; propagated and mobilized cadres and members to be aware of the meaning of the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", the standards of "Exemplary Veterans Association members", "Cultural Veterans Family", "Cultural Residential Area", "Cultural Agency"...
The War Veterans Association at all levels in Can Tho City organized 27 seminars and workshops on developing economic models and transferring science and technology, with the participation of nearly 13,000 cadres and members. At the same time, about 90 field conferences were organized to replicate typical economic models; coordinated with media agencies to build and broadcast 150 columns, over 750 news and articles about typical advanced collectives and individuals in various fields related to the construction of new rural areas... The War Veterans Association at all levels proposed to reward over 100 advanced models with good models, creative ways of doing things that bring high economic efficiency and examples of war veterans who overcame difficulties and rose up in life.
In addition, the city's Veterans Association at all levels has proactively and actively mobilized resources to participate in the construction of works; set an example and mobilized people to voluntarily implement the criteria for building new rural areas. From 2021 to now, the Veterans Association at all levels has mobilized cadres, members of the Veterans Association, veterans and people to donate 13,720 square meters of land, participated in clearing over 100 kilometers of roads, repairing 227 kilometers of concrete roads, building new and repairing 96 traffic bridges, renewing over 4,000 flagpoles, installing more than 4,960 public lighting bulbs, planting about 593,120 trees, ornamental flowers, etc.
In the coming time, the city's Veterans Association at all levels will continue to set an example and mobilize people to effectively implement the criteria for building a new rural area. In particular, each veteran's household will be an example in effectively implementing the movement "All people unite to build a cultural life", practicing a civilized and frugal lifestyle; preventing and combating crimes and social evils...
According to Mr. Vu Minh Thuc, Deputy Head of the War Veterans Affairs Committee (Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front), over the past 5 years, the War Veterans Associations at all levels in the southern provinces and cities have implemented many effective solutions, contributing to helping war veterans and people change their awareness and thinking in building new rural areas. Thereby creating new values of modern Vietnamese countryside, containing new economic values, preserving and conserving national cultural identity. War Veterans Associations at all levels need to continue to strengthen propaganda work, mobilizing cadres and war veteran members to actively participate in building new rural areas; mobilizing cadres and members to be exemplary in implementing and criticizing policies to preserve and promote family and community cultural values, preserve and build rural landscapes. At the same time, effectively mobilize resources to help war veteran members and people improve their lives and get rich legitimately.
