Create a habit of saving electricity

In the first 9 months of 2025, Can Tho City Electricity Company promoted electricity saving propaganda activities. At the same time, it encouraged electricity customers to participate in the "Customers with solutions for economical and efficient electricity use" Contest in 2025 (Contest) launched by Southern Electricity Corporation... Thereby, the propaganda effect has gradually helped customers create the habit of saving electricity in their daily lives.

Customers received the encouragement prize in the "Customer with solutions for economical and efficient electricity use" Contest in 2025.

Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Electricity Company, said: In the first 9 months of 2025, Can Tho City Electricity Company has implemented many activities to promote the use of electricity economically, raising public awareness of environmental protection. Notably, promoting communication and mobilizing electricity customers in the city to participate in the Competition on the EVNSPC customer care application launched by the Southern Power Corporation.

As a result, after 3 months of implementation (from May 1 to July 31, 2025), the city has 20,565 electricity customers who have signed electricity purchase contracts for domestic use with the Company participating in the Contest. Of these, 48 customers won prizes, correctly answered 5 questions of the Organizing Committee and proposed new, practical and widely applicable electricity saving solutions; at the same time, the electricity consumption in 3 months (May, June, July) of 2025 was lower than the same 3 months of 2024.

According to Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, this year's contest has many new and outstanding features compared to 2024, that is, the number of customers participating in the contest is more than last year, especially among them are many customers with good initiatives, rich experience in using electricity economically every day, contributing to forming good habits in every family.

As one of the first prize winners in the Contest, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Gam, Hung Phu ward, shared: "When participating in the Contest, I always pay attention to turning off electrical devices when not in use; only use air conditioners when necessary and adjust the temperature to 26 degrees Celsius or higher. In the cool afternoon, I often open the windows in the house to get natural wind... As a result, in the 3 months of May, June, and July 2025, the amount of electricity consumed in my house was lower than the same period in 2024, helping my family reduce household electricity costs."

According to Ms. Gam, using electricity economically is not only a small action of herself, but also a habit of using electricity economically for family members, contributing to the goal of protecting the environment, for the sustainable development of the country.

Mr. Ly Van Bon in Binh Thuy ward said: “When the electricity sector launched the Contest, I participated and paid attention to implementing good ways to save electricity such as turning off lights, fans... when not in use; reducing the number of freezers (specialized in preserving fish cakes), from 4 to 3; paying attention to using wind and light during the day; limiting the use of many high-capacity power-consuming devices at the same time during peak hours to avoid overloading the power system as well as wasting a lot of electricity in daily life"...

By applying many measures at the same time, Mr. Bon has saved the amount of electricity consumed every month, especially during the peak months of the hot season in 2025 (from May, June and July 2025) and won the consolation prize of the Contest. More importantly, after the Contest, Mr. Bon can grasp many good experiences in using electricity both safely and economically in daily life.

According to Can Tho City Electricity Company, the goal of the Contest is to encourage customers to practice good electricity saving measures, thereby spreading the action to the social community, so that saving electricity becomes a habit in the daily life of all people. At the same time, the Contest also contributes to effectively implementing the peak electricity saving movement in the hot season of 2025 as well as implementing Directive No. 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister on enhancing electricity saving in the period of 2023-2025 and the following years in the city.
