Promoting cooperation in training and fostering Vietnamese and Venezuelan officials

On the morning of October 23, at the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Professor-Doctor Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Academy, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, received Ms. Tatiana Pugh Moreno, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs in charge of Asia, the Middle East and Oceania; Director of the Institute for Advanced Diplomatic Studies of Venezuela, who is visiting Vietnam.

Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang expressed his pleasure at receiving the delegation and affirmed that Vietnam and Venezuela have a good traditional friendship, always attach importance to and are ready to promote bilateral cooperation; suggested that the two sides should further develop relations in many fields, especially trade, culture and cooperation in the fields of training, research and academic exchange.

The Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics emphasized that the relationship between the two countries has deep roots in the history of the Vietnamese people's struggle for national liberation, with strong support from the Venezuelan people.

Deputy Minister Tatiana Pugh Moreno affirmed that the bilateral relations between the two countries are constantly being strengthened, based on the long tradition of cooperation and mutual support since the early years of establishing diplomatic relations when the two countries and peoples fought together for national liberation and independence. She emphasized that both countries share a history of resilient and courageous struggle for independence and freedom.

Updating the situation in Venezuela, Deputy Minister Moreno said that despite difficulties, the economy still maintains continuous growth.

Sharing the difficulties of Venezuela, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang affirmed that Vietnam persistently pursues a foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification and is a responsible member of the international community. Vietnam steadfastly supports the cause of independence, construction and development of each country, including traditional friends.

Discussing cooperation in training and fostering officials between the two countries, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang and Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Tatiana Pugh Moreno agreed to promote cooperation in specific fields according to the signed agreement, focusing on training officials, research and policy advice.

The leaders of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics expressed their desire to promote cooperation projects such as research, survey and thematic exchange programs for Venezuelan leaders and managers. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thang said that the Academy currently has similar programs with Cuba, Angola and many other countries.

Deputy Minister Moreno affirmed his readiness to promote sending delegations of Venezuelan officials and experts to Vietnam to study, and proposed the possibility of multilateral cooperation with Cuba and Nicaragua in training programs.

At the meeting, the two sides also shared experiences in each country's foreign policy; expressed confidence that with a foreign policy aimed at peace and stability, the two countries will achieve the set goals.
