Ho Chi Minh City: Launching a journey to the source, marking national sovereignty

On the morning of October 23, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced the historical-cultural tour “Pride of Border Marks”. This is a unique origin tourism product, connecting Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Thap - An Giang to educate patriotic traditions, arouse national pride and raise awareness of national border sovereignty.

Accordingly, the tour "Border Imprints" (3 days 2 nights) is designed as a pilgrimage of gratitude and a journey of real experience, taking visitors to visit sacred national landmarks on the Vietnam - Cambodia border, from Dinh Ba International Border Gate (Dong Thap) to Ha Tien International Border Gate ( Kien Giang ).

Not only stopping at exploring the landscape, visitors also have the opportunity to directly interact with Border Guard soldiers, listening to everyday but proud stories about the work of protecting the border, protecting every inch of sacred land of the Fatherland.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thao, Head of the Department of Tourism Resource Development Planning (Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism) said: "The 'Pride of Border Marks' tour is the result of the joint efforts between the City's tourism industry and localities in the Mekong Delta region. We hope to not only bring an attractive tourism product but also a journey of gratitude and fostering patriotism for today's young generation. This journey not only contributes to diversifying tourism products but also promotes regional connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Thap - An Giang, creating a driving force for sustainable development for the tourism industry in the Mekong Delta region in the new context".

“In particular, this product also marks the development direction of experiential - educational - community tourism that Ho Chi Minh City is encouraging, aiming to create more humanistic values ​​and unique identity for tourism in the Southern region. This is a combination of cultural, historical and real-life experiences, contributing to nurturing the sense of responsibility and love for the homeland in every Vietnamese person,” Ms. Thanh Thao added.

Accordingly, in Dong Thap, tourists will stop to visit and learn at locations such as landmark 232 at Dinh Ba International Border Gate - a symbol of the resilient spirit at the source of Tien River; landmark 235 at Moc Ra Border Gate - a special double landmark located next to So Thuong River, recalling the arduous work of demarcation and marker planting; and landmark 240 at Thuong Phuoc International Border Gate - where river and road routes meet, demonstrating flexible connection in border protection.

In An Giang, the journey continues with typical destinations such as milestone 275 at Tinh Bien International Border Gate, which is both an immigration control point and a bustling commercial center of the border area; Tinh Bien market, a unique border market that shows the cultural exchange between Vietnamese and Khmer; milestone 301 at Giang Thanh National Border Gate, a testament to the work of demarcating sovereignty over the special land of An Giang; Temple of Heroic Martyrs and Youth Volunteers who sacrificed their lives on Highway 1C, a place to pay tribute to those who died for peace on the border; Mac Cuu Tomb - Ha Tien, a historical relic associated with the merit of opening up the southwesternmost land of the country; milestones 313 - 314 at Ha Tien International Border Gate, the last milestone on the southwestern border, where the mainland meets the sea - a symbol of Vietnam's territorial integrity.

A representative of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism said that the launch of the tour "Proud of the imprints of the border region" is also a step to concretize the tourism development cooperation program between Ho Chi Minh City and the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta, signed in early 2025. The product is expected to increase connectivity between localities, attract domestic and international tourists, and expand the market for educational tourism and border experiences.

In the coming time, the Department will coordinate with localities, travel agencies and professional associations to widely promote the "Border Imprint" tour to domestic tourists, students, businesses and overseas Vietnamese.... In addition, this product will also be introduced in the City's "Returning to the Source - Returning to the Fatherland" tourism activities in 2025, contributing to spreading cultural and historical values ​​and the spirit of national solidarity.
