At around 5am, Ship KN-201 received a distress signal from fishing vessel BV 99368TS. After only 30 minutes of maneuvering, the fisheries surveillance vessel approached the distressed vessel and brought fisherman Dao Van Thien (born in 1983, from An Giang ) aboard for emergency treatment. The victim suffered 3 broken teeth, broken bones, a broken lower jaw and a deep laceration to his left cheek due to being hit in the face by a fishing line while collecting the net. He was in a state of mild shock, high fever and heavy blood loss.

The medical team on board quickly administered first aid, stopped bleeding, disinfected, bandaged and provided initial medical care. By 7:30 a.m. the same day, the fisherman’s health had stabilized, his blood pressure and body temperature had returned to normal. The captain and crew were instructed on how to care for and safely bring the victim ashore for treatment.
During the rescue process, the fisheries surveillance force combined propaganda and dissemination of laws on combating IUU fishing, distributed leaflets and national flags, and encouraged fishermen to stay at sea with peace of mind. This activity demonstrates the sense of responsibility and professional capacity of the Vietnam Fisheries Surveillance force, contributing to protecting sovereignty , maintaining security and order at sea, and developing a sustainable fisheries industry.
