On the afternoon of October 15, the People's Committee of Hung Dien commune, Tay Ninh province, said that a 500-meter-long dike surrounding more than 200 hectares of rice fields in the locality was broken, causing floodwaters to overflow, posing a serious risk of flooding. Immediately after the incident, Song Trang Border Guard Station (Tay Ninh Provincial Border Guard Command) coordinated with Company 8 (Defense Command of Region 4, Tay Ninh Provincial Military Command) to quickly mobilize officers and soldiers to the scene, organize reinforcement, overcome the incident, and help people respond promptly.

On the same day, the Tay Ninh Province Hydrometeorological Station said that the water level in the Dong Thap Muoi area continued to rise due to the amount of water flowing from upstream combined with local rain. It is forecasted that the flooding situation may become more complicated during the high tides in late August and early September of the lunar calendar. The meteorological agency warned of a level 2 risk of natural disasters due to flooding.

According to a report from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Tay Ninh province, Tan Hung commune currently has about 15 hectares of rice submerged from mid-plant to the flower, farmers are urgently "running to harvest" to reduce damage. In addition, 2.6 hectares of 2-year-old durian, 2 hectares of 4-year-old coconut and 18 hectares of watermelon ready for harvest were also affected by the dike breach.

In Vinh Chau and Hung Dien communes, Tay Ninh province, some sections of the dike have been overflowed, and local people and forces are actively reinforcing them temporarily. However, if the water level rises by about 20 cm, the risk of overflowing the entire route is very high. Khanh Hung, Vinh Hung and Tuyen Binh communes currently have more than 700 hectares of rice in the flowering and milky ripening stages that are threatened by floodwaters.

Faced with that situation, the People's Committee of Tay Ninh province sent a working group to directly inspect the key dikes, directed localities to closely monitor the situation, and mobilize forces to promptly support people in reinforcing and protecting the dikes and production areas.
