The pickleball tournament "Dan Tri 20 years - Bright new days" took place on July 5 and 6 in Hanoi , gathering 574 athletes to participate. The Organizing Committee said that all fees collected from athletes (at 500,000 VND/person) will not be used to cover the organization costs but will be used to support the construction of 5 Charity houses, helping 5 households with especially difficult circumstances in Cao Bang.

“I have been in Vietnam for 2 years and I feel that this is a wonderful country. Born and raised in Spain but I am really impressed with the spirit and heart of the Vietnamese people. Initially I came to Hanoi for a friend’s wedding and we just planned to have some fun games of pickleball together.

However, when I learned that the pickleball tournament “Dan Tri 20 years - New Bright Days” would use all the fees collected from the athletes (at 500,000 VND/person) to support the construction of 5 Charity houses, helping 5 households with especially difficult circumstances in Cao Bang, I urged my friend to register and decided to stay in Hanoi for a while longer, waiting for the day to participate in the tournament,” athlete Rubio shared.

The Spanish player participated in the pickleball tournament “Dan Tri 20 Years - New Bright Days” in the men’s doubles Open on July 5. Despite his experience competing in many tournaments and many different countries, Rubio still had to stop in the semi-finals when he lost to the pair Dat “Tro” - Trieu “Cau Bung” with a score of 8-15.

“Although I didn’t get a high result, I was really impressed with the meaning of this tournament. It was a very meaningful thing, many people like to play pickleball and this is a way to raise awareness and raise funds for those in difficult circumstances.

I think in the future, tournaments should also be organized with such humane meaning. Thank you Dan Tri newspaper, thank you athletes in Vietnam, you gave me an unforgettable experience. I love you guys,” said the Spanish tennis player.

Carlos Rubio is one of the outstanding athletes in the 35+ age group, competing professionally in Vietnam and Asian tournaments. He has affirmed his talent through a series of international titles and high positions on the global rankings such as top 3 in Men's Doubles 19+ (Elite Division), achieving a high ranking at the Siam Tournament (Bangkok) - winning the 35+ singles and winning the second place in the Mixed category.

At tournaments in Vietnam, he won many Gold and Silver Medals in singles and doubles in different age groups at PWR Vietnam, Vietnam Open, AFP Vietnam.
